I wonder how hard it's going to be to get a Ford 9 inch under the back of that puppy.

I might snatch up the new EcoBoost Mustang, looks, quality, power and mileage all in one package.

And I won't feel all dirty driving a Hyunai

Hardy har har...

Hyundai makes mediocre cars currently. With the Genesis being the major exception.

Hardly. I wouldn't call the Azera or Veracruz mediocre. They compete against their higher priced competition and in many instances, beat the competition.

How many have you owned???? My family owns 3 and all three have had 0 problems and one is very well abused by my sister and it has a pile of miles on it...

Mediocre? I think not... The BIG-3 maybe but not Hyundai IMO.

Okay... The BIG-2 and the one in the background not taking bailout money but just as mediocre... Happy now?

Mediocre - lacking exceptional quality or ability; "a novel of average merit"; "only a fair performance of the sonata"; "in fair health"; "the caliber of the students has gone from mediocre to above average"; "the performance was middling at best"
- middling, average, fair
- ordinary - not exceptional in any way especially in quality or ability or size or degree; "ordinary everyday objects"; "ordinary decency"; "an ordinary day"; "an ordinary wine"

This fit Hyundai to the T. Sorry, but it's the truth.

Hyundai has:
-Average quality (industry average)
-Average to below average design
-Average performance (with the Genesis exception)
-Average to below average handling
-Average to below average product innovation
-Above average value
-Above average warranty

What aspect of the Hyundai product (besides warranty and value, which aren't exactly product traits anyway) stands out among its industry peers?

Hyundai makes a mediocre product.

Yeah because Consumer reports and all those cronies are right... How many awards has GM and the other of the BIG-3 won and their cars were still junk at the time... Yet Hyundai's are mediocre?

Try again... Like I said I got 3 in my family that have had 0 problems and 1 well abused at that... This is not the definition of above average or mediocre...

You keep driving a debt machine and I will keep driving my smart investment.

Every independent quality study will tell you that, right now, Ford's quality is higher than Hyundai's. I know that doesn't matter to you, but my Fords have been every bit as reliable as your Hyundai (if not more so), and they've made good power, looked better, and been safer while doing it.

Ford also has products that distance themselves from the herd, products that are industry standouts. Not so with mediocre Hyundai.

Consumer Reports draw from a sampling of thousands, you base your experience on a sampling of 3.

A statistics and probability course may do you some good.

I don't recall GM winning very many quality awards over the last 10 years; however, their recent upswing in quality over the last two years has garnered an award or two.

I agree that with you on one point, quality studies are not the end all be all. But my personal experiences match up with recent independent studies, that carries plenty weight for me.

I also didn't realize that a Hyundai, with one of industry's worst resale values, could be considered a smart investment. [censored], no car short of the occasional exotic or two is what I would call a "smart investment".

While I agree that Ford is a good choice instead of the other 2 IMO they aren't as good as Hyundai but this is personal opinion. Yes I have owned a previous Ford, and driven some stuff in the newer product line-up.

I think most of the cars they are producing today are ugly, especially the Flex. ***? But again this is my opinion.

I guess we will agree to disagree. I will keep driving Hyundai and saving money as long as they keep treating me as well as they have been.

So if quality reports are accurate and everything, why is Hyundai one of the few still generating a profit in this economy? Why are they building their share of the market? Why are the BIG-3 continuing to loose market share?

Quality reports aren't everything... It might look like a quality product, but only the test of time will tell... And I believe all of our vehicles from Hyundai/Kia will survive this test.

My sisters keeps me thinking this way everyday... And yes I know 3 isn't a scientific sample, but it has to count IMO.

Easy, Hyundai are cheap. It only stands to reason when times are tough, people are going to look for maximum value and less expenditure.

I have already conceded Hyundai has above average value (when new).

I think it's just hard for your type to accept that America was outdone and mostly by "foreign" automakers building cars on your own soil. It sucks, but it's the truth... The truth hurts, and we are seeing that now with 2 of the BIG-3 in financial trouble! Rather than just accepting it and moving on... We get posts like "Domestics build good cars" and "That was in the past they're different now" and "You're taking away jobs". Guess these automakers should of though about that before trying to run a B.S. train through the markets... Tough love I say!

And regarding the Flex, I believe it is hands down the best crossover from a mainstream brand (excluding luxury brands, specifically Mercedes).

The Flex does something great, it stands out from the CUV pack. It stands out, and the icing on the cake is that it is a really great car.

It might be a great car, but it looks like a fridge box on wheels... It's god awful IMO. I can see them using this for funeral persessions!

I think it's hard for your type to let go of the 80s and 90s and realize American quality has caught up and, in many cases, surpassed the Japanese.

I say the Japanese specifically because the Koreans have never been industry leaders on anything outside of warranty coverage. Their quality as a whole has never been anything but industry average or below, even today.

I understand why you say Japanese, and Koreans are Japanese rip-off artists IMO too.

I can't let go of the 80's/90's? The American cars of today have surpassed the Japanese? I think not, have a read of my 2008 Impala thread... This is surpassing a Camry? I don't think so...

Keep smokin' the good stuff, and if you got extra send it my way because it ain't cheap up here!
