The furthest you’ve driven, straight on through

The farthest I've gone is San Angelo, Tx to Loudonville, Oh straight through which was ~1,370 miles and took 19.5 hours in a 2007 Focus. It was just me driving.

The second longest trip was Purcell, Ok to Augusta, Ga straight through which was ~990 miles and took 18.5 hours in a 2002 Tahoe. That was with the wife and both kids. I won't be doing that again though.

1,528Km, which is the distance from my place in Ontario to my parent's in NB back when they lived there. The time required varied of course depending on traffic and weather, I've done it in 12.5 hrs in the Mustang but the average was 17-18 with the longest being 24.

Last year I picked up a new fleet van at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut and drove back to Florida.

I truly intended to sleep in a rest area in NC but was so excited I could not. So I hiked a couple of laps around the facilities and then drove the rest of the way in.

Takes a couple of days to get over that!

I’m talking no hotel to sleep/rest/let the car rest. I guess you could include someone taking the wheel for you for a while. But no rest for that vehicle aside from stopping for gas or bathroom break.

Mine was New Hampshire to Baltimore. I guess 7 hours? Maybe 500 miles?

I‘ve done a drive to Niagara Falls. That was probably six hours but it was just so much easier than Baltimore. No major cities, smooth, flat, peaceful. Baltimore was a nightmare...NY, Jersey, George Washington Bridge, tolls and tolls and tolls. I actually pulled off the highway on the Jersey turnpike to get gas - because I didn’t want to wait in line at the stations on the turnpike - that was a HUGE mistake...think I drove 40 miles trying to find a station. Lol. Seriously.

And I drove to Philly in a north easter. That was horrible. Got to the hotel and I was shaking. So out if it I left my wallet at the reception desk.

Always thought I’d do a cross country drive. Never have. Figured I’d do the old...“Florida drive”. Haven’t done that either.
Even though I’ve been on many 14-17 hour flights … don’t like more than about 6 hours of driving in a day …
(maybe it’s the inability to consume food/wine and sleep)🍷👀

Age 21-1988 Jetta GLI 16V (no cruise, my aching foot).

Ft Collins Colorado (3AM) -> Aunt's Home in St Louis Missouri (7PM)
Next day St Louis MO(8AM) -> Outside NYC(1AM following day)
Worst drive outside NYC -> Home in NH, (so much traffic)

We've done Fairfax VA (DC suburbs) to Orlando FL twice with only pee/gas/fast food breaks. Roughly 850 miles, 12.5 hours. The first time was in my wife's little Corolla and we drove in rain the entire way back. Took us about 15.5 hours to get here. My nerves were shot but it felt fantastic to get home. We fly now, lol.

The only feeling that beat that was just barely getting home after a near 6 hour commute (to go a grand total of 20 miles!) during 'Snowmageddon' and finding the last open parking space right in front of our apartment. The relief I felt was like winning the lottery.

Tucumcari, NM to Naperville, IL - 1123 miles. It’s not smart and will never do it again.

By myself...Albany NY to Toledo OH With another driver...Toledo OH to San Antonio TX, Toledo OH to Gainesville FL.

in 2017 from northern Atlanta suburbia to Key West, two of us, distance 900 miles for 17hrs in my old Mazda with over 200K miles on odometer

Corpus Christi to New Orleans then to Mobile Alabama then back to Corpus Christi. I worked oil industry at this time. I was younger and didn't need rest. Most I did was 3 days between delivering parts and escorts which boss didn't like when I got stopped by state police and made to rest anyhow I didn't have commercial plates. I was putting 80k in 6 months which averages 400 miles a day.

Myself alone, probably this december, Indianapolis to Colorado Springs. Just stopped for gas and food, went through snow storm in KS.
With others? Sarajevo-Lisabon, around 40hrs, stops for food, diesel.
When I worked on oil testing for oil company, 4 of us did 10,000km with no stopping. Two would drive, two rest, then two take over, while other two rest. It was actually fun.

The furthest I've ever driven is from the Ontario border south of Ottawa (via somewhere in New York state where the road sign said New York city this way) to Gary Indiana, in a 1978 Ford Fiesta. We were broke in those days so we didn't have a road map and avoided toll roads, so I'm not exactly sure where we went. We were young and hoped to camp along the way but angry looking clouds kept piling up and there were regular tornado warnings on the radio so we just kept going. By the time we got to Gary I was too tired to go any further. It was really late at night and we just stopped at the next motel. In the morning we found we were in a pretty rough area (barbed wire along the top of the chain link fence around the motel). That was about 18 - 19 hours of continuous driving with only bathroom breaks and stops for gas. That was quite a memorable drive!

My longest documented single day drives are from Edmonton to the ferry terminal at Tsawwassen BC, which is 1150 - 1175 Km. We used to drive that quite regularly in 11 1/2 to 12 hours with only bathroom breaks, fuel stops and a 15 minute nap after lunch (which was brought along and eaten in the car).

My longest drive was from Winnipeg Manitoba to Harlingen Texas (+/- 3000 km) in 3 consecutive days of driving.

I can drive for 12 hours easy by myself. But if someone is in the car it is much harder for me. When I was trying to make it to Seattle from NE Iowa when I was in the Navy, I was toast after 18 hours, 1200 mile by the time I hit Boise Idaho. Slept for 12 hours then breezed the rest of the 600 miles in my 1969 427 Corvette. National speed limit was 55 back then, and Google shows it as a 25 hour drive now.
