Should I trust Jeep engineers on 0W-20?

@OIL_UDDER (sp?) was around here awhile back and had some things to say in support of 0w20 in the newer Pentastar. He had a Chrysler 300c with an earlier gen with well over 100k and ran 5w20. He was on the design team for the gen 1 Pentastar. I view him as an expert on the Pentastar, in general, even though he wasn't there for the PUG. But he stayed in touch with friends who developed it.

I'd sum it up this way. The PUG (Pentastar Upgrade--newest version) was designed for and validated on 0w20. That's what it was made to work with to meet all the durability specs, which, IIRC, are very stringent. If you search a bit, he laid out the reasons 0w20 is recommended for this engine, specifically for lubrication of certain areas with tight tolerances.

But I haven't heard of any issues with 5w30. I look forward to seeing some high mileage examples. But I have not seen those yet.
So I think it's more about feelings than anything else, which is fine. I am no engineer, but I can't imagine it would do any harm. But I also would not kid myself into thinking a good 0w20 will do any harm, either.
