Changing it as soon as the snow melts enough to crawl under my car.If it's an automatic trans car, don't forget some lube maintenance there too.

That's what I do in my GS400. Sees 750-800mi a week. 343k on the clock, all in SoCalAnother vote for 5w30 synthetic. I would run to 7500 miles and send in a sample for analysis.
Fixed my typo, that’s PP-Euro 5W40M1 0W40 or Edge 0W40 or PP-Euro 5W40, all A3/B4 full synthetics with MB 229.5 and Porsche A40.
................., then I would go at least 10,000 miles
Not according to my manual. Chain is lifetime. Overthinking oil is the point of this forum!Timing Chains on Hyundai's and KIA's recommended change every 100k, per manufacture.
You're over thinking OCI and OIL requirements..Just run 5w-30 ST in the car ....

10w40 is what's in it now. Manual states 10w is fine above 0°F, not sure my starter or battery would be too happy at -15F or even below freezing with a 10w. Definitely takes a couple extra seconds to crank even with a 0w oil when it's real cold.FYI, I've lived in MA my entire life. 40 yrs ago, I learned the hard way that 20w50 dino in a crank case will get too thick to start below 10F. 10w40 is good to -15 F at least. Just sayin'
Longtime lurker here!
I have a 2016 Hyundai Accent with the 1.6 Gamma GDI engine with 125,000 miles currently on the clock. Manual says I can put anything from 5w20-10w30 in it. Euro/Oz manual says anything from 5w30 to 20w50 in the same engine so I imagine it wouldn't be picky.
Wear protection and longevity trump fuel economy. It's usually cold started once daily and runs for 8-12hrs non stop about 50/50 city highway miles and it's driven hard, regularly sees redline.
What say you?
