These have such a great looking body style. I am guessing the new fiat version will be uglier.

It leaves a lot on the table for power and efficiency.
I figured I'd get some rebuttal, it's all good. Me I'd rather leave a little on the table to be honest. DI still has a bit more room for improvement imo. But as the saying goes "to each his own."

I've been happy with DI so far. No issues here. Some brands have issues with it, but then, some brands have issues with port injection engines, lol!

This is true. Still I'm very happy the 3.6L is still not DI. As always opinions vary.

I love GC;

its just that you're paying for the brand new vehicle that has been 10Y old; the same goes for 4Runner; they both in fact dinosaurs

I wouldn’t have gotten it but that’s just me. Ever since Chrysler was taken over by Fiat I have become less of a fan. My neighbor has one of these it’s a 2015 model they plan to get rid of it soon because they don’t like it and their grandkids complain it’s uncomfortable. The last Jeep I drove as a rental was severely underpowered and my personal ownership experience of a Jeep has not been positive. But if it’s what you are looking for and wanted that’s totally fine I hope you have better luck. I agree with what Donald said above it’s not highly ranked by them or any mechanic I know.

Now they are made by Stellantis so you can have hope.

So they should be rock solid.
Example - look at the issues with the new release Ford Explorer.
I agree, the platform is tried and true. It will take a couple of years to see if that is the case with any new platform/technology. Technology usually moves to improve, however that isn't always the case early on. Sometimes a lot of enhancements to the "new tech/platform" have to be made to get it right, and the early adopters suffer as a result.

none of those are impressive off roading videos. any crossover can do those. Let me ask this, how many manufacturers make lifts, winch mounts, rock rails, snorkels etc for them? I can get any of those for my Jeeps.
Yep … I’m afraid they’d have way different results in the Texas marsh … all they are pointing out is a CUV has a good system for snow over roads, fine - that’s important up north …
But, the only things in there I’d take where I go (Rubicon) is the ZR2 or Taco …

Okay, so did they change all of their raw parts suppliers? I had zero issues with the design of the vehicle. It was whoever they bought the rubber and seals and gaskets and shocks and struts and all that from. Did they ditch their cut rate junk suppliers, or nah? Again...design was fine. I bought it in 2014 because of the design. It was the last JGC that actually had lockers F/R from the factory.

If the JGC were safer, and used high quality materials, I'd absolutely have found myself in one instead of my CX5. It may be a little slower and less efficient, but it is an amazing cruiser, and I drive a lot so that matters. Perfect size for what I need an SUV for, as well. CX5 is a bit small but it's like a WRX on stilts so I give it a pass. It's legit fun. It's not that I didn't like the JGC, it was just completely untenable to consider owning long-term.
The 2011 was the last year that the GC had ELSD (electronic limited slip differentials) in both front and rear... 2012 and up it only has it on the rear while the front has a BTC (brake traction control) system. While the ELSD can "lock" the differential, its completely controlled by the computer and so is not an actual "locker" in the sense that you can't "lock" it yourself

Yes I have,funny as hell.
"I like red"
I think it's so far out there and dumb as (double hockey sticks). who has the reserve cash to buy at least 100k in vehicles. wife has no idea, so maybe he just financed them both w'out even using her as a co-borrower.....yeah yeah.. I know just a commercial, but to me I guess it's comical as GM thinks this is the norm...

2010 was the last year. Also, yes, I could. 4WD low accomplished that.

Exactly.

So I understand what you mean but its important to differentiate between having LOCKERS and having a system that has the ability in the right circumstances to temporarily lock. If you read the article about QDII you will see the last paragraph mentions that for example the system will automatically unlock the diffs during turns "to avoid doing damage" and you have no control over that. This differs from manually engaging a front locker which would stay locked during a turn (potentially doing damage). I wasn't at all downing QDII as I love it and think its one of the best systems out there... cheers
