My Civic never blew up during a PUP intervalPlease. Enlighten us.
How did you arrive at this conversational revelation with your Civic?
How did you measure viscosity?

i don’t think anything is wrong with PUP and still recommend it. i think the large issue is availability and pricing. its not OTS at wally world anymore and parts houses want a fortune for a 5qt jug.
My 02 Camry V6 hates anything mobil
It seems like a lot of people have noticed that their engine is quieter on VRP.Funny you say that.
Our 08 FJC has used Mobil 1, 5w30 since new. Oil changes have always been done at or before 5k.
I noticed a bit of oil smoke on startup, it doesn’t use any between changes.
Recently switched to VRP, I swear the engine is considerably quieter. The 4.0 is known to be a bit noisy.
Will see how this goes……
There is a German-made Pennzoil Platinum Euro LX 0W-30 though. It's the only oil I use in my $125,000 Mercedes.Realize that the German Castrol 0W-30 was a BITOG Favorite for many members. The oil is not available anymore, it always stayed true.
Realize that PUP did not stay true, or we can say it changed.
I don't own (or want) a $125, 000 Mercedes (or any Mercedes for that matter), but I do believe my Toyota with 276k miles has a "real" engine also. And it's made it that far without any German made Euro whatever. There is a German-made Pennzoil Platinum Euro LX 0W-30 though. It's the only oil I use in my $125,000 Mercedes.
I've been using different PP products for years in extreme conditions and it has outperformed other big name brands I have used. I regret not using it earlier.
Has it lost credibility? Not to those who know and have real engines in extreme conditions.
Outperformed by what metric? There is a German-made Pennzoil Platinum Euro LX 0W-30 though. It's the only oil I use in my $125,000 Mercedes.

There are standards of decorum on this forum and you seem to have forgotten what they are.
Maybe you should sleep it off before posting again.
It’s my understanding VRP is GTL? That would make VRP a no brainer for me.
Would love for someone to confirm that, I forget where I read or heard that.
But I am hooked on VRP now even if it’s not GTL.
PUP is difficult to find as said before.
BTW, I couldn't find the GLE on the list, but another list of no driver fatalities (there is no list of any death in the car), also includes the Kia Sorento. So, esteemed company here.Outperformed by what metric?
I assume this is an E class?
It’s an excellent choice. My local Walmart has Pennzoil Ultra Platinum again. Going to be using it for the wife’s and my moms car this oil change cycle
It is not the same stuff, it is not GTL.I'd say it relates to more competition in the market. Besides, Quaker State is pretty much the same stuff for +- $3 per 5 quarts cheaper.
What? Their 0w20 is 8.8 centistokes and 5w30 10.4. If that's water thin then what is thick? So much misinformation here it is crazyPUP is to thin like water. My Civic don't like it.
SMHValve train noise. When drained it looked as thin as water. No other oil i have used did this. Not scientific but i know my engine and it did not like PUP.

Oil comsumption? Dude GTL gas better volatility than PAO even.PUP took off because of the natural gas hype and Project Farm oil races. All that’s worn off now. I did try it back in 2012 in a Subaru and the oil consumption went through the roof. Nothing scientific but never tried it again, I’m sure it’s fine.
Looks like that oil does not want to be in that BMW
