Potential winter storm this week.

Local forecasts have my area (central NC) in either a freezing rain or snow scenario. I’ll pray it’s snow. The 2002 ice storm burns in my memory. Municipal Fleet operations don’t stop for weather. I stepped out on my driveway that morning (5:00) to go to work, slipped, fell, and watched my coffee mug slide down the street. Made it to the car, chiseled the door open, and slid down the street while attempting to leave. Finally made it out of the neighborhood to find ever road blocked by accidents. Finally got to work to find our backup generator wasn’t working. Several of my techs got it running after daylight and that’s what the shop operated on for 3 days. Lost several mature Leyland Cypress trees in the yard. One fell on my neighbor’s driveway. He didn’t have to go in to work but he waited for me to get home to remove it that evening-in the dark. He’s kinda of a jerk… Anyway, I hope it’s all snow.

What happened to your coffee mug? That's the important thing here, not the backup generators.

Good luck with that. I'll be testing out the block heater on the Fusion as we'll be -10F to -15F a couple of mornings. I will also be checking in here waiting for the "start up and drive" crowd to tell me I'm doing it wrong....

Snow i can handle and Im glad freezing rain wasn't mentioned.
I'm really not looking forward to Friday night through sunday specially since I-65 runs through here and the potential for idiots to cause accidents. Looks like I will be camping at the fire department.

It went in the storm drain at the bottom of our cul-de-sac. I miss that ole mug.

Yep, they're projecting about .5-1" of ice for us. That will pretty much shut everything down. Hopefully it is all gone by Monday. I don't get the luxury of a county car or calling out on a snow day.

It's going to be interesting, depending on the track, too soon to know but a half inch or more of ICE here and I guess we will not have power for a while. Im clueless. Hope at 40% of a 120 gallon propane tank that is enough for the fireplace and stove to keep warm for a few days.
Until it happens here on the coast it isn't happening. Might as well toss a coin until maybe 12 hours before.

As you may know, snow is easy, ICE can be devastating .

If you want an accurate forecast just watch my wood pile. When it runs out like it will today it's guaranteed that the worst weather of the winter is going to hit. Hopefully it will clear up enough to go cut another load in the morning plus it's time to check the gas tank for the fake logs in the fireplace. I haven't had to use them yet this winter.

Moved our 1000 mile CO to TX drive up 3 days due to the wx forecast.

A few sources for my area said we could get up to 20 inches over two days. I kind of like snow because I can miss work and they still pay us but that’s a lot of snow lol. I guess we will see. The last time we had anything over a few inches was 2009 or 2010.

city has exactly 1 plow truck for the whole town and county road department is useless most of the time.
Interstate is priority here i just dred it because I know what happens every time there is significant accumulation of snow. Always some idiot that thinks he can speed on snow covered roads.

An Army buddy lives in Knoxville, TN. Despite growing up in FL he spent years in Germany so snow driving doesn’t faze him.

But I asked him what the county uses to clear the roads and he responded “The sun.”

Although snow isn’t hitting here until Sunday afternoon (NOAA forecast 8-15”), warehouse store was packed yesterday for what has come to be called a “French Toast Storm.”
