Snow i can handle and Im glad freezing rain wasn't mentioned.
I'm really not looking forward to Friday night through sunday specially since I-65 runs through here and the potential for idiots to cause accidents. Looks like I will be camping at the fire department.

Yep, they're projecting about .5-1" of ice for us. That will pretty much shut everything down. Hopefully it is all gone by Monday. I don't get the luxury of a county car or calling out on a snow day.

We are lucky here in Sioux Falls, SD. Last year we had 9 inches of snow in January and this year we have close to 1 inch and they are predicting a possibility of up to one inch of snow today. The day day forecast looks pretty decent with cold weather and not a lot of snow predicted. OP your service with the fire department is appreciated by many in your area I am sure.

This is from a fcst desc. from Shreveport la.....Note the usaf plane mention...It can not be stressed enough the importance of monitoring the
forecast in the coming days as changes are likely one way or
another. To assist in this, and to further sharpen the forecast and
model guidance available, recon missions by the United States Air
Force 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron off the coast of
California are scheduled for tomorrow afternoon to investigate the
the developing upper disturbance that will dig across the Baja
peninsula Friday, into Saturday. This feature, even given its
distance from our area, will play a critical role in the evolution
of this forecast in the days to come. It is expected that what
does get sampled tomorrow afternoon, and when ingested into the
model guidance, will make changes to modeled solutions. Again, in
what way they do is still to be determined, which is why it is
crucial to stay up to date with the forecast in the coming days.

The weather apps are all over the board with snowfall amounts where we are outside of Philadelphia. 2"-19" depending on what app you check. Good advice @rszappa1 on checking as the weekend draw closer.

A few sources for my area said we could get up to 20 inches over two days. I kind of like snow because I can miss work and they still pay us but that’s a lot of snow lol. I guess we will see. The last time we had anything over a few inches was 2009 or 2010.

Local forecasts have my area (central NC) in either a freezing rain or snow scenario. I’ll pray it’s snow. The 2002 ice storm burns in my memory. Municipal Fleet operations don’t stop for weather. I stepped out on my driveway that morning (5:00) to go to work, slipped, fell, and watched my coffee mug slide down the street. Made it to the car, chiseled the door open, and slid down the street while attempting to leave. Finally made it out of the neighborhood to find ever road blocked by accidents. Finally got to work to find our backup generator wasn’t working. Several of my techs got it running after daylight and that’s what the shop operated on for 3 days. Lost several mature Leyland Cypress trees in the yard. One fell on my neighbor’s driveway. He didn’t have to go in to work but he waited for me to get home to remove it that evening-in the dark. He’s kinda of a jerk… Anyway, I hope it’s all snow.

Good luck with that. I'll be testing out the block heater on the Fusion as we'll be -10F to -15F a couple of mornings. I will also be checking in here waiting for the "start up and drive" crowd to tell me I'm doing it wrong....

Getting down to -3 here in North Alabama. Average low for the storm will be single digits. Average high will be freezing or below. Expecting 1-3” of snowfall with ice. I live on the side of a mountain, so if it ices, I’m stuck like Chuck. Kids enjoy sliding down the hill though!

I saw 0 to 11" in the forecast. The way it's been going this winter, my money is on the higher end of the range. And it's going to be very cold all next week so not much melting.

Predicted wind chills of -45 to -50 here in central WI on Friday morning. I've already got our Jeep plugged in, the wife gets the garaged vehicle for a doctor's appointment so hopefully the block heater gives me a fighting chance of getting to work.

As for the equipment on our lot at work... I doubt there's anything coming in that isn't in already. None of the large tractors/engines have glow plugs or grid heaters, it's just big batteries and a prayer.

Same here (I'm only 30 miles from you). After losing power for five days in last year's ice storm, my wife talked me into getting a whole-house stand-by generator (Generac 26kW) run from our 500 gallon propane tank. I called my propane supplier yesterday and requested a tank top-off before the storm. Now to check out the snow blower that I haven't used in three years. Fortunately our neighbor plows our 500 foot driveway so I can get by even if the snow blower fails. Stocked up on food and water yesterday before the rush. I hate snow, but hate ice even more.

After getting about 4-6 inches of snow on Monday now we’re going to get another 3 or 4 today and they are forecasting a possible 4-6 inches on Sunday. I was hoping to escape the snow during my two weeks here in Niagara on the Lake because it doesn’t usually get this much snow compared to where I live (which is 80 miles to the north and is much colder too)
To make matters worse we are in for a two week deep freeze here that will be way colder than normal 🥶
