The upstate of South Carolina and North CarolinaYea I was totally expecting over a foot, but it's maybe 8" at best. Not that I mind, I'm not much of a snow person![]()
I helped a guy hook one up like that once. 220 from a cut extension cord hooked to a thirty amp two pole and told him a million times to make sure the main breaker was off. Of course he fired it up and backfed every transformer on his street and got a visit from the power company working on the lines. I won't help anyone do that again.
In Lewis County we got maybe two inches with a little ice on top of that. I can walk on my yard without breaking through the ice.Where? I was almost in Florence for the weekend.. Canceled that fast.
Curious about what they actually got down there.
it was the predicted epicenter absolute worst line on weather map (with areas to west and east being worse)
based on this list from earlier today looks like it was significantly less than projected there.

Is that enough gap? What do you guys think of this plug on my Troy Built? It stopped running yesterday after a few hours. Either vapor lock or an internal failure in the plug. Maybe carburetor as well but unsure.

Storm went further North than expected. What these storms do going over the Appalachia is always a coin toss - they either go one way or the other - never straight across. The upstate of South Carolina and North Carolina
Greenville SC through Charlotte NC
They were predicting 1/2 inch to 1 inch of ice, widespread, power, failures, and everything that goes along with it.
Nowhere did they even get a quarter inch
I’m watching a pop tart news reporter on the news just now in Charlotte, North Carolina
She’s showing us the ice that built up on a park bench and some bushes nearby.
Meanwhile, all the lights for restaurants and streets are fully lit up and all she can talk about is showing people this ice on a park bench and some nearby bushes.
Already they’re talking deflection here, the meteorologists. They are saying the storm did not perform! I’m like hello?!?!
The meteorologist did not perform, they wrongly predicted the weather! Unbelievable to see the storm did not perform. It did perform the way it was supposed to, but not the way they predicted.![]()
1/2 or more for TNStorm went further North than expected. What these storms do going over the Appalachia is always a coin toss - they either go one way or the other - never straight across.
Middle TN got 1/2 to 3/4 an inch of ice. Not sure what they were expecting?
We had a ski race in Milton which was done at 12, and there was 8" down by then. Then we decided to put the powder skis on until the storm blew through, but at 6:30 it was still going! I think 18" total is what we saw, and we did over 50 runs as there was no lines at all! That is the most fresh snow we've ever skied in, and it was cold so it stayed loose and powdery for hours even in the high traffic areas.Southern Ontario got hit pretty hard in a lot of places. Pearson airport got 46cm (18.1”) which is an all time record amount. Downtown Toronto got 56cm and some parts of Mississauga and other close suburbs to Toronto got over two feet. All schools are closed today and many businesses as well while the city cleans up. Where I am in Niagara on the Lake we got about 20cm (8”) I’m just glad that I didn’t have to shovel the driveway here! The landscaping guys actually come around after each storm and manually shovel every driveway in this townhouse complex. The maintenance fees here aren’t even that bad either, around $200 a month. Well worth it just for snow removal alone!
It was running fine on the gap, so I think that might not be the culprit. Is that enough gap?
Plug looks fine but they can be fickle. Try your spare.
Nice! Were you at Kelso/Glen Eden?We had a ski race in Milton which was done at 12, and there was 8" down by then. Possibly the needle valve got stuck? That can happen suddenly. It was running fine on the gap, so I think that might not be the culprit.
I pulled the plug and ran the electric start afterwards, confirmed sparked.
A spare is a good idea though, I'm helping family out and they have no spare parts.
I'm starting to think it's the carb. 14 year old machine that sat a few winters.
Odd thing is I ran it many hours and then it just stopped working. Amazon carbs are a few days out and it doesn't look like HD or lowes have these in stock. I guess I'll be buying a gallon of carb cleaner.
Yep, the one run has got enough steep(ish) parts to keep your speed up.Nice! Were you at Kelso/Glen Eden?
Good point, maybe a few light taps with a hammer. I watched a few YT videos on cleaning and rebuilding a carb. Yeah, I'll pass for now. Not my thing in the middle of winter!Possibly the needle valve got stuck? That can happen suddenly.
Do you have any starting fluid around you can try to see if it will fire? If its carb it will usually fire for a second or two with a shot of ether.
