Post your latest oil top off

Put a quart of Swepco 306 15w40 in my truck last week, I think I've got around 6k miles on this interval, and the Vortec 5.3 has consumed that quart plus another half. Not bad imo.

Found these cleaning out the garage and figured why not? and chucked em in my truck.

No not really, just wiped em down (both still sealed) and will tuck em back on a shelf 😂 Valvoline had a date of 2000 on the bottle and the price on the BP is $1.99 !

After this Winter's short trips, my Volvo 2.4l non-turbo took a 1/2 qt. of oil.

This engine -I'm on my third- consumes that much over the entire OCI (7,500 mi.).

Undoubtedly a combination of the cold start-ups and possibly something to do with brand of oil as I'm not consistent.

melk.... I clean my garage once every 25 years too. I just uncovered sparkplug wires and sparkplugs, belonging to my departed 1999 Chevy S10 4.3... and.... some roofing shingles from two roofs ago.

I didn’t see a topic for this. Please post your latest oil, trans or even gear oil check and top off.

Today: the ole Blue 09’ Focus of mine with 296k on it

Half quart HPL NO VII 5w20. Oil on dipstick has fine carbon bits so there is cleaning happening. We shall see what Donaldson filter caught.
2002 Toyota Camry V6; no top off ever needed

07 Honda Fit; 339k miles… every 2k miles it’s 1/2 Qt low and gets a top off.

ATM, running Amsoil SS AZO 0w30 so that’s what I top off with. No more backyard chemist for me. :)

I don’t like letting it get below half on the dipstick markings. That’s 16 ounces low, but the total sump capacity is only 122 ounces total. So, by the halfway mark it’s already 13% below capacity.

2018 Kia Soul + 2.0 GDI.
121,519 miles, 4752 miles since last OC using PUP 10W30

Topped off with Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 10W30
I'd top off with PUP 10W30 if I could only find it for sale around here.

Car goes in to the dealer for an oil change Monday.

Why top it off at all when you’re just gonna get it changed right away?

I had/have a fair bit of driving to do, and the oil on the dipstick looked really tired. Oil light had flickered a few times, despite the oil level being well into the safe zone on the dipstick. Seemed prudent to get as much fresh oil into it as possible.

It'll have about 500 additional miles since the top-off when it gets changed tomorrow.

Change that oil every 3k. Had you done that, I doubt the flicker shows itself - the oil wouldn't look tired and quite possibly no consumption would have occurred.

I honestly thought PUP 10W30 would have made it to 5K without issue. Will be implementing the severe-service schedule of 3750 mile OCIs going forward.

A new PCV, BG EPR treatment, going from 5W20 to 5W30, and finally to 10W30 hasn't made any appreciable difference in oil consumption, which averages a quart every 3250 miles.

Might as well round it up and go to 4,000. It makes no sense with a random number like 3750 (that only makes sense if it’s a car that shows the odometer in km since it’s an even 6000km)
