Post your latest oil filter change

Since the price of filters has more than doubled in the past few years, I’m leaving my filters on for 20,000 kms.
A couple of weeks ago I changed only the filter on a deleted Duramax LML and topped up the oil a litre.
Come November, I’ll drain the oil and leave the filter on for another six months.
As fillers age in use, and that goes for air and fuel filters too, some say that they perform better than new filters.
My wife only drives 6K mi/yr and has me change her oil every 3K mi with Mobil 1 and she demands a new K&N oil filter (the expensive white one). Last oil change, I left the old K&N oil filter on and put in 5 qts. of fresh Mobil 1. When I was finished, the oil looked almost as dirty as the oil I had just drained. Sooooo…. I’m probably going to have to change the oil filter with the oil each round.

I remember back when I was in the Navy and drove a 1987 Pontiac Grand Am. It took 3.5 qts. oil (I used Exxon 10W30) and I changed the oil every 7,500 miles and changed the AC oil filter every 15,000 miles. I drove that car forever.

In the navy you can sail the seven seas.
In the navy you can put your mind at ease.

Sounds like she has you pretty well trained..................

Kidding aside, I am surprised just about any woman would be brand cognizant to demand a specific filter. Most are lucky to remember it needs changing at all.

2008 Lexus IS350
JS Asakashi OE116J (In and out)

I can't bring myself to pay $30 to 40 NZ dollars for a Ryco from Repco or Super Cheap Auto, since it's just a cartridge filter and Ryco are usually made in China... so instead I order from fitinpart.sg in Singapore and get Japanese-made JS Asakashi filters for less then $10, with shipping a bit more but still less then Ryco at retail...

New Zealand parts market is a rort... with duopoly pricing

the other option would be rock auto then I can access the USA brands

My wife was all about using synthetic and changing every 5000 miles when I met her. She lived near a Valvoline Quicky Lube so she would go there.

Got a case of PF63's, they were in a sealed box and had the GM hologram (as if that means anything lol). Break in change got it done just over 900 miles. As mentioned, going to do another when the OLM is at 40%. First try on the Tahoe and it was very straightforward. A tip online said to raise the air suspension to max--had not considered it. Made it super easy to get underneath without jacking.

Were you worried the ST would clog with stuff from the R&P? I ran my ST3614 for 5k with no problem. Some stuff in the pleats but not bad. 200k Camry V6. 1000 mi seems short. Also, how old was the garage sale find?
