Post your latest oil top off

Whoops!

Just moved from a different state not too long ago. A number of things are in storage, I recently picked up grease and oil and such. (Still didn't have 0w20, 5w20 and many other things with me) My Daytona 3 ton jack and a number of tools.

Wife's 2013 rav4 was going 2.5 hours one way yesterday morning. Went to top off and didn't have the oil. Takes 0w20 or 5w20. Used Kirkland 5w30 full synthetic. Needed 0.25 quarts. Best to get it topped off while cold on level ground because I'm not able to check it on level ground as often as I'd like to.

Valve cover seeps. Owned it since 2017 and 32k miles. Now has 198k! Changed the oil every 6k miles myself with an oem filter.

Change oil and filter every 3k on 3 vehicles. 128k / 126k / 614k All vehicles have no leaks and don't burn oil. Do not top off
Meanwhile people spend big money on skidsteers, zero turn mowers, side by sides, atvs etc and don't change the oil or only change it every two years. I don't even make an oil change an extra step. I drive home from work and drop the oil while hot or with the riding mower I go out and mow and drop immediately after while hot. Not expensive to change two quarts of oil but people act like it is on small engines!

Added a 15-oz bottle of STP blue to my 09 G5.
Oil (GTX 5w30) has 1500 miles on it and is full, but TC makes noise now with almost every start up, so trying to ‘cushion’ it a bit…slight over-fill won’t hurt engine.

Turbocharger is making some noise at the beginning of start up?

makes a rattle for a few seconds on start up, but it is getting more frequent and a bit louder.
I have mentioned this before on Bitog, but I used to own a 2015 Honda CRV that started a cold start rattle at about 60,000 miles. That 2.4L engine is notorious for that. To fix it right the VVT actuator would have had to be replaced, costing over $500.00. I poured a can of Liqui Moly MoS2 Anti-Friction Engine Treatment part # 2009 in it at got rid of the rattle. It takes 4-5 hundred miles of use to get full benefit of the product according to the Liqui Moly tech people. It may be a whole different issue with your 2.2 Ecotec so I don't know if it would help. It doesn't cost much, about $10.00 a can. I use it in everything now; it made a believer of me. https://www.amazon.com/Liqui-Moly-2...id=1752777271&sprefix=MoS2,aps,90&sr=8-1&th=1

Just added 1/2 qt of Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-20 to my '17 Accord with almost 123k on it. We'll see if this and the next couple OCI's change my consumption any. Right about on schedule from past at 1400 miles into OCI needing the top off. I could wait until low mark but I'd rather keep it closer to full.

PCV has been changed 2 times (1 recently) in 4.5 years and 74k I have owned it. BG EPR run once and EC30 run a couple times.

I was also thinking / wondering how much engine braking contributes to potential oil consumption? Mine has a 6 speed manual transmission and I often downshift to a lower gear coming to stop lights etc especially when coming off the highway. I will also do that by not shifting to a higher gear around town at lower speed stop signs. My neighborhood has multiple stop signs, each block, 25mph speed limit (often enforced) so I will start in 1st, shift to 2nd decelerate with engine braking to next stop. That will happen at least 16 times per day in the 1 mile from my house to more main road.

I just added 100ml of ESP 0w-20 to my Civic. That’s all it has needed and it’s 4100 km into the interval. This is my first interval with ESP, the previous three were with Valvoline Restore and Protect. This is the lowest consumption rate I’ve seen yet with this engine so I am very pleased with the results that Valvoline Restore and Protect has achieved ☺️

2006 Toyota Camry 4 cyl. Oil change with Mobil Special semi synthetic. Top off with NAPA brand semi synthetic. It's on sale now at NAPA. I'm thinking of trying Valvolene Restore and Protect at my next oil change.

My Taurus is about 1300 due from an oil change. It leaks or burns about 1 Qt per 4-5k oil change.

I am on a second interval of Valvoline Restore and Protect. Last interval, I topped off with Valvoline Restore and Protect as I figured that's the best way to keep the cleaning going.

I found that I have two quarts of Meijer 5W20 oil. This time I decided to just top off with that to get rid of it. It may interfere with my Valvoline Restore and Protect interval but I want to get rid of this oil. I'm planning on just running 5W30 Valvoline Restore and Protect in both my current cars.

I think I'll just use up the last Meijer quart next oil change interval and then top up Valvoline Restore and Protect then on since I won't have this random oil left.

I just topped off the Cadillac 3.6 V6 with about 1/2 qt Mobil 1 5W20 leftover from a recent OC. The Cad calls for 5W30 but 5W20 is close enough!

My grandfather's 98 Taurus / 3.0 Vulcan 248k
2,200 into current oci of 5k , first top off @ 1/2 qt low.
Topped off with Valvoline Maxlife SB 10w30.
Sump is currently full of the same but in 5w30.

Friends 98’ Jeep Cherokee 2dr I’m driving. 340,xxx on vehicle.

Was 3/4 quart low today this morning at 7:15 am. Has rotella from 2007 in sump and Baldwin filter on it. Added some Delvac 15w-40 in “bedpan style” jug to engine. Oil later wheen checked after leaving Rural King is sooty and very black. Seeing carbon or soot spots on brawny paper towel

Just added another 1/2 quart 2 days ago. In line with previous 1t was about 1400 miles from last time. Still on first run of Valvoline Restore and Protect.

I had to do my first top-off on my 2008 3/4 ton " CIA" suburban with the 6.0 LS engine. It has 275,000 miles and I owned it from new. I was surprised to see the oil level down. I topped up from my " Yuckaflux" jug which contains left over oil from whenever I re-use a oil filter and don't need a whole 5 quarts. I've been watching it since and yes, its using a bit of oil, not bad for 275,000 miles. There are no drips underneath it. The jug contains 5W40 and 5W30 motor oil.
