So the bug finally bit for me to get another Mustang. A friend of mine happened to be selling his 1995 GT 5speed. It looks a little rough, but it is fun to drive and the main purpose will be a cheapish HPDE car.

Mods when I bought it were BBK shorty headers, Accel coil, FRPP wires(not really a mod buy according to my friend it is), some rigged up K&N filter, Magnaflow catback, Steeda Ultralite wheels rattlecan'd black and some random radio.

Plans for the car include installed all the Maximum Motorsports parts in my garage that were on my last 1998 Mustang. Want to build a Trickflow topped 347 with a BOSS block. I have a Cobra R brake setup in my garage waiting to go on as soon as I pick up a Cobra master cylinder and get the Maximum Motorsports lines. The interior is tan which I hate, but it is in good condition.

Also free with the car is a family of spiders. They have made webs all over the car, every day I find new ones and the ones I take out come back.

Anyway ya, feels good to drive a Ford again. My co-workers stopped giving me poop for working at a Ford dealer and driving a Volvo.

How many miles are on it?
Did some of the cars in 95 have the high nickle block?

It is straight so paint will be easy!

Have fun with it.

Ya miles... Well right now it has 93360 miles on it, same as when I picked it up last week. Got an estimate for repairing the odometer since it is obsolete from Ford and it was around $200.

Not really sure about the block. I have been a mod motor person as long as I have been in the car game. I actually have an aluminum 4.6 block in my garage, oops.

C8AM would be stamped on the block. Not sure what years had them. I had a 93 fox body with one. They had higher Nickle
content so they are bit stronger and wider main bearing caps.
The is to say the are same thinkness from top to bottom not like normal caps that are thinner towards the top.

Having said that is has been debated whether or not they actually have a higher nickle content. Some sites refute it but I have read books and sites that say it is true. The bearing cap thickness has been confirmed in the past.

funny that they switched the tbird over to the 4.6 in 94 but the 5.0 was in mustangs longer.

Looks like a nice pick up! How cheap was it?

(only curious because a friend picked up one of these a few years back w/ 120k) for like 1500 bucks) Stang looks pretty good now...

nice! Bd paint but nice car - always liked them. Forgot that the early mustangs in that body style still had a 302.

Ya the paint will be fixed eventually. It was funny when I dropped it off in my service department and i made a big deal about not scratching the paint (did it on purpose because a customer was making a huge scene about not wanting scratches on their car).

O and the car blew 0's on the smog inspection.

You thinking of the Mexican block? This would just have the XXX/YYY 302 thin-walled roller block that they all came with.

Block casting is E5xx IIRC, 1985, which is when they went roller IIRC. Your C8AM would have been a 1968 block

Which is an early, non thin-wall casting block with blind head bolt holes, larger main caps, stronger valley area.....etc. Just a much stronger block in general.

That C8AM block would NOT have been stock in your car, do you know who put it in?

High Performance Driving Event. Basically open track but no door to door, working on driving skill. If I do decide to go door to door, I have the NASA rulebook for AIX to follow.

The engine is in needed of a good bath, also if you like to use a similar air filter, AFE pro-dry S or AEM dry-flow, you may want to try a pre-filter with a discarded pantyhose.

Pantyhose?

Last year of the 302! Love it, paint and all. I'll be looking for something just like this when my youngest gets a little older and my wife is done with college. Fortunately these two items will go hand in hand.

It lived on in the Explorer until 2001.
