Okay. Pennzoil Platinum comes is Euro 5w-30, and it also comes in 5w-30. I know that the Euro is not Shell Helix Ultra because that is only the Euro 5w-40. So, does anyone have any information on what the difference is?

All I can tell you is that the specs of PP 5W-40 Euro and Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 don't match exactly.

Shell Helix Ultra comes in many different grades, including 0w40, 5w30, and 5w40. BOTH the 5w30 and 5w40 grades of Pennzoil Platinum Euro Formula are relabeled Helix Ultra.

Then why do the specs not match? I got the PDFs for Helix Ultra 5W-40 and PP 5W-40 right here...

I have no idea. Johnny, who used to work for Pennzoil, said that once Shell took over the Euro Formulas became relabeled Helix Ultra.

We will have to interrogate this Johnny.

to answer the original question (though i'm a little late to the party), the regular PP 5W-30 is not as robust as the euro version.

(euro vs regular)
Viscosity @ 40C: 64.7 vs 59.7
Visc. @ 100C: 11.4 vs 10.5
HTHS Vis: 3.5 vs 3.0
NOACK Volatility: 9.3 vs 12.5
