people who talk about oils here are not the manufacturers,no need to bother them.they do their business ,so are we.
But it can make you look more knowledgeable if you learn to use the more descriptive HT/HS rather than grade, or worse "weight".

It's a better descriptor of what happens in an engine over a simple viscosity measurement.

agreed. but then, they should replace weight with hths sticker outside the can/bottle sticker print.they should print

approvals and motul hths 3.6 for example..not motul 5-30 or -40..

so until manufacturers accept your point of view ,people will talk to each other based on their pure WEIGHT/GRADE language/knowledge.

I think that is a good idea. User Shannow suggested it years ago on this board.

You almost have it now with certain approvals. Quibble over a winter rating if you wish but forget the outdated grade designations. It’s truly useless considering the approval requirements.
