Oil choice based on: Miami 2nd hottest city (avg high) in US

What does "thin oil" have to do with never getting cold in Miami?
 
For a 2.4L GDI (non-Turbo) in hotter climates, synthetic 5W30 is a no-brainer. Choose a quality synthetic Dexos1 Gen2 5W30 and you're good to go.
 
Note*

The chart shows "2.4T" as the turbo variant's engine displacement. This is an error, it should read 2.0T.
 
Run what ever viscosity you want but Florida is not hot. It rarely ever gets to 100 F in Florida. If you want hot you need to go to Texas or Arizona.

I tend to be a thicker oil guy so I would have been using a 5w-30 no matter what the weather. Me (I) like Mobil1 5w-30 because it's ACEA A5/B5. I'm sure there are others...

The avg high is only hotter in Phoenix.

Yes, and it would work in both vehicles (see signature)
 
As wemay and I both know Miami is a sauna 24/7 from May-October. I ran 5w20 in a 4.6 Town Car for 300K miles with zero issues. I have zero plans to change from 0w20 M1 in my Tahoe. A/c is always constantly on.

I do a combination of highway and nasty gridlock. With the McArthur Causeway under construction it is more gridlock.
 
I was running the original 5w-20 Mobil1 in my rebuilt 1958 Ford 300ci inline in the summer when I lived in Phoenix in 1980! It probably called for a straight 30 or 40.

I hear you, but the average temperature of your engine is 210 F. It thinks the weather in Miami is cold.

I used M1 5-20 in Maine in 1978 in a Dodge Slant 6 engine calling for a much heavier oil.

Was that a typo? The 300 in³ (and closely related 240 in³) I6 Ford engines came out with the 1965 model year. There was a 223 OHV I6 introduced about '54 to replace their earlier flat-head.

I'd run a straight 30 grade a lot of the year... If for no other reason then that I could there

I have a 30 grade Warren Oil in the lady's Camry right now. Put it in in mid June. It'll stay in there until late September. Then after that I'm going to Motorcraft 5w30.
 
What is the average temperature where the vehicles are designed? IDK, Korea? What a dichotomy...Hot in Norway is certainly different than hot in Miami! Good luck with your new ride.
