New Castrol gold jug spotted in the wild

Genuinely asking….is there anything special about this oil, especially the 5w30 flavor??
For the 5w30, not as much IMO. I think having the Dexos1 Gen3 ratings and the MB 229.71 rating for the 0w20 is pretty nice. I don't think there's another oil on the market in 0w20 with both, but I may be wrong.

25k Oci really!
I think marketing is really pushing toward the whole Cafe conundrum. Less maintenance.
I'm blown away by this marketing of 25k oil change. That is at least 4 years in my driving habits.

Are people really going to buy a 25k oci product and leave it in there automobiles just because the label says it?

I love marketing.
The average joe probably would still change early but I see some believing it and doing 25k or 1 year like they say but it doesn't say 1 year upfront only the back which will get ignored. They had ample space to include "see back side for more details" but didn't. But if one were to drive 25k in 1 year they might be fine for a few oil changes until it starts burning a lot.

So funny how everyone has his oil of choice. My #1 is Castrol. Over Mobil1 or Pennzoil. Maybe it’s because I was able to get some serious high mileage out of Mercedes from running Castrol Edge for years. They are all great oil brands.

Go with the stoutest oil with the best base and additive package. I guess these days, it’s the stoutest oil with the most approvals. :) The newest Castrol Edge EP has some fantastic approvals. I’ll happy pay 2 extra dollars for the Gold EP over standard Edge even though I’m doing 5K mile oil changes. But that’s me. Mobil1 EP or Castrol Edge EP. I’d only run extended OCI with Redline or Amsoil or HPL.
