I finally ordered a new Ruger Stainless GP-100, 10 shot .22 this past week. None of my local dealers had any in stock, and didn't know when they would be getting any. So I've had my eye on Davidson's, and they too were showing, "Out Of Stock". Then last week when I checked on line I noticed they were showing 8 in stock, so I immediately ordered one. After I did, the remaining 7 were sold out within a couple of hours.

It came in this past Wednesday. (Sorry for the lousy camera pic), but this revolver is a beauty! It weighs a full 42 ounces, and is finished beautifully in lightly brushed Stainless steel. As with most new Ruger's, the gun was filthy when I removed it from the plastic bag it ships in. I've always said the dirtiest gun I ever owned, was a brand new Ruger! For some reason they test fire them, box them up and ship them out, without even attempting to clean them up.

After a good cleaning the gun was flawless. The action is very smooth, and the fiber optic front sight very distinguishable. I won't be able to get to the range with it until next week some time, but I will be looking forward to wringing it out for sure. I doubt anyone could wear this revolver out in a lifetime of shooting.

There is a company right here in Phoenix that makes a nice speed loader set up for it. So I'm going to give them a call and hopefully pick up one. With a 10 shot double action they're nice to have. It allows you to load and shoot faster than with an auto, because you don't have to fumble around loading magazines. I'll try to give a range report after I light it up. This is the speedloader set up.

A gun store local to me has them in stock for $659.00 as I post this. Maybe I'll pull the trigger and buy one today? https://www.vanceoutdoors.com/products2.cfm/ID/108713/name/ruger-sp101-22lr-double-action-revolver

The link is for the SP101.

Yes. The SP-101 is an 8-shot. And that price seems a bit high. I got the 10-shot GP-100 out the door for just $665.37. And that's from Davidson's with a full Lifetime Replacement Warranty. The SP-101 8-shot should run about $100.00 less, give or take.

Certainly wouldn't trade you for my forty something year old S&W Model 18 Combat Masterpiece. Our local Walmart hasn't had .22 RL for what seems like years. Is ammunition for your new revolver available in your area?Regards

It's getting more available. But I haven't bought any in years. I still have plenty laying around.

Fantastic, Bill! Those have been on my mind since I heard about them.

Please post some photos of the groups you shoot with it!

Also, more pics of the gun itself!

Very nice revolver, I'm jealous!

Last time I was down in your neck of the woods, two weeks ago, there was plenty of 22 ammo to be had from Cabela's, ****'s and Sportsman's. ****'s usually has good sales on their's. The other day I picked up three boxes of Federal Automatch (325) for $18.74 each with another 10 bucks off for spending over 50.

We also just had a new Sportsman's Warehouse open up about 5 miles away from Cabela's. They have a lot of .22 at good prices. Plus, because they're so close, they help keep Cabela's "honest".

I haven't been able to find anything but the high end target stuff for 22 in my neck of the woods for years. Other than to dispatch a nuisance critter, the old Beretta 22 has sat lonely and neglected in the safe along with my P38 with a cracked slide.

This guy is near me. He is good to deal with, and always has plenty in stock. He is not the cheapest however. I'm not sure what he charges for shipping because I just go there. He's about 15 minutes away.

I usually order from Academy unless I can get a good deal locally. If you keep checking with them you can find some excellent deals and shipping is always free with orders over $25.00, and no tax. Unless there is a good sale locally, I can get everything shipped to my door for less from Academy.

Here are a few more pics. These are a bit clearer.
