I finally ordered a new Ruger Stainless GP-100, 10 shot .22 this past week. None of my local dealers had any in stock, and didn't know when they would be getting any. So I've had my eye on Davidson's, and they too were showing, "Out Of Stock". Then last week when I checked on line I noticed they were showing 8 in stock, so I immediately ordered one. After I did, the remaining 7 were sold out within a couple of hours.
It came in this past Wednesday. (Sorry for the lousy camera pic), but this revolver is a beauty! It weighs a full 42 ounces, and is finished beautifully in lightly brushed Stainless steel. As with most new Ruger's, the gun was filthy when I removed it from the plastic bag it ships in. I've always said the dirtiest gun I ever owned, was a brand new Ruger! For some reason they test fire them, box them up and ship them out, without even attempting to clean them up.
After a good cleaning the gun was flawless. The action is very smooth, and the fiber optic front sight very distinguishable. I won't be able to get to the range with it until next week some time, but I will be looking forward to wringing it out for sure. I doubt anyone could wear this revolver out in a lifetime of shooting.
There is a company right here in Phoenix that makes a nice speed loader set up for it. So I'm going to give them a call and hopefully pick up one. With a 10 shot double action they're nice to have. It allows you to load and shoot faster than with an auto, because you don't have to fumble around loading magazines. I'll try to give a range report after I light it up. This is the speedloader set up.
