Ruger RXM. 250 rounds. First impressions

Well, I could be a lot better. That’s why I keep practicing!

I put a total of 250 rounds down range in about 30 minutes. That included setting up targets, loading magazines, and swapping out slides. I’m not dillydallying on every shot….

There is a balance between speed and accuracy, and I tend to work on speed.

And any day at the range is a good day.

I blame all of you! Got a 5% military discount, so, $389 plus tax. Decent price?

They have been selling online for $350-400, so...?
Cheapest I could find local. Probably $30-$60 more everywhere else. I can find it cheaper online, but then have to pay the transfer fee, around $80 or so, which evaporates any online savings.

Maybe it's my area, but $389 was the best I could do. Glock 19, Gen 5 starts at $535 here.

Of course i am messing with you. Most cannot shoot that well.

In competition bullseye, it is acually favorable to have a larger group size,at least to where the judges can see different holes. If the total is 5 and you have a tight cloverleaf....they can only see 3 shots......counts as a miss on two

Stacking shots is not always a good thing, great for fun, but not applicable in other things.....which i dare not say.

Rather than buy a whole new Glock for an optic set up, I bought a Brownell’s slide and barrel. Thoughts on that, here:

Thread 'Red Dot on a G19 - Brownell’s RMR slide'

I did the same thing with a G17 recently. Put a Leupold Deltapoint Pro on it. I like the Deltapoint the best. It’s big but sight acquisition is simpler.

Had it out yesterday.

Nice shootin' cowboy 😁.

I always shot for speed and prided myself for always being first out of the holster and downrange with at least 1, if not 2, shots before anyone else at qual time. Always work on natural point of aim so shot placement was good too. Don't have much time when the bad guy is shooting at you. And having a target like your's irratated some of the instructors at the academy when I had to recert. They would be smart-a es and count the big ragged hole in the middle as "1". Shooting well is a perishable skill. Do it often.

@shortyb PSA looks good, but then I would have to pay the FFL fee or whatever it's called. I learned that the hard way when I got the Taurus G3C (selling it by the way.)
PSA won't charge fee if you have it sent to one of their retail stores. They have several in SC, but don't know if you're close to one.

Oh! Didn't know that. I'll take a look. Thanks!

Update: There is one in Rock Hill, SC........like 8 miles from me........

The closest RXM in stock is in Denver, NC (about 45 minutes, but only 20 minutes from my work.) I'll defnitely keep this in mind for next time. Thank you!

Just got my ready for pickup notice. Looking forward to it!

So, weather here in Charlotte area has been snowy and icy. Not a good combo here. We’re not used to it. So, haven’t picked the RXM up yet. Was going to get it today but just got a call from Bass Pro Shop that the “system” they use for the background check is down nationwide and won’t be back up until 10 PM Eastern time. So, hopefully I can pick it up tomorrow.

Just picked it up. Looks great! Unfortunately, all I can do is look. Came with a trigger guard and no key……45 minute drive back that I don’t have time for today……sigh. Nothing in box. Looked everywhere. No key.

Nevermind. Used a small Allen wrench to pop it loose. Just a small spanner pin wrench is all it is. Found a key on Amazon for like $3.75. Bought it.

Just purchased a couple of Glock Gen 3 Magazines and a genuine Glock OEM slide stop. If I don't have any issues, won't mess with it. Seems there are quite a few people having issues with OEM GLock mags and the Glock OEM slide stop assy fixes it. Cost is less than $15, so grabbed it. I have (5) PMAG magazines and (2) Gen 3 Glock mags, plus my son has a Glock 19 Gen 5, so going to take a couple of his Gen 5 mags with me. Hoping to hit the range this weekend. Full report ahead.

Plan to shoot Monarch Brass 115 FMJ, Blazer Brass 115 FMJ, Maxxtech 115 FML (Have 100 rounds left, my Taurus does NOT like this ammo), Federal HST 124G HST +P JHP, and Federal HST 147G HST JHP. Didn't realize they had a +P version, and a non +P version until I bought it.

Looking forward to it. Feels so good in my hand just playing around with snap caps. Super easy to clean / lube too.
