Hi,
zoomie - I Posted on here a long time ago that Mobil is rebranding its WW range - progressively

1000 - Base consumer product with OEM Approvals
2000 - Semi Synthetic (in our language)
3000 - Fully synthetic with many EOM Approvals (2nd string to M1)
4000 -
5000 - Some versions have an ester content Patent

I have been using 2000 10W-40 for some time now in a number of engines

i bought 3 5 litre jugs at autobarn, on special a few months ago for $10 each

i got the 20w50 for my harley, ended up using it in my VY SS ute coz it met GM specs (and i needed to flush the engine)

OUR general sez (in the handbook) that we can use 20w50 in 5.7 chev engines ... haha

Good post Doug. Is there 5000 around town ? For the previous oils except the 3000, Repco bottled oils are a good potion at 10% less with the same stuff in it as the 1000 and 2000 semi.
