Microgard Select - No Love?

Just checked PG website for PG241EX for 2009 Mazda Miata NC.
General comments mentioned 99% at 25 microns, but under specifications for that filter it listed micron rating as 42-60. Far cry from 25.
Sounds like the Purolator Boss fiasco where they talked about 99% at 20 or 25, and actual rating was >46.

I called about that. It’s a website error. 42-60 is for the regular PG. The EX is 15-25. If you look they swapped micron ranges in error. I also asked for the official ISO efficiency of the range.

EX:
98.7%@15(absolute)
99.5%@20
99.9%@25

Here's an example of the swapped efficiency specs, They need to fix an error like that because people notice. It would be less confusing if PGI just listed one efficiency. If it's 99.5% at 20u, they could just use 99% @ 20u and simply it. Or list all three efficiencies so people understand it's part of the efficiency curve.

Agee 100%. Someone had reported they were going to correct it on the website. Guess it’s nothing immediate….but it should be.

Autozone housebrand filters are made by Premium Guard. Therefore the Autozone, Advance Autoparts, Napa Gold, and most other autostores' housebrand premium filters are the same good filter as Oreilly Microgard Select.
Yes, but I've ordered a filter (s12060xl) and received a champ filter that was COO USA with louvers. Also noticably absent was the silicone gasket. This was last year so not sure still is the case.

Another big gripe I have with PG is email response. Before calling I emailed(5-6 times) with zero response. 🦗
It’s best not to say anything when people are buying your oil filters like mad, just keep selling them. You say something and it’s off to the races online. Put the efficiency on the box to sell more and make more $$$, and keep quiet.

Some are made in China, depending on the part number.
Not directed to you @Mazdazoomzoom , just using your comment as a jumping off point.

Sad that a can full of folded paper - and no soup - goes for nine dollars. What a deal. You know the importer is paying <<$1.98 @ for these Far East sourced spin-on's in bulk.
Guess you gotta pay for the new shiny parts store situated adjacent to five other shiny parts stores selling close to nothing since they oversaturated the area.

Also, it is incredibly sad that we can't match the quality. I guess we are totally done for .... Well, It was a good ride for a while.

After reading this post I went and bought a Microgard Select MSL57899. I compared it to the NAPA Gold 7899 I had bought. Seems to weigh more but the thing that impressed me was the "bigger" holes in the metal tube. I'll run it and open it and take a look. Just looking at both right now I'd rather have the Microgard Select then the NAPA Gold. Sorry no pictures.
I thought Premium Guard makes Napa Gold and Oreilly Select in their vietnam factory, which would make them the same filter. So why would they be different on inspection?

Premium Guard does not have factories themselves.. They contract with a handful mostly between Vietnam and China with more than one in China so these different factories obviously have slightly different design components although they are the same basic design and not flipping things around like First Brands does.

Based on past discussions/threads...

Premium Guard's premium line of filters (including Napa Gold & Oreilly Microgard Select) are made for Premium Guard by Vietnam Advance Filtration Industries (VAFI) factory in Vietnam.

So a Napa Gold & Oreilly Microgard Select should be exactly the same premium filter made in Vietnam.
Except the unknown is that these filters made through PGI may or may not all be exactly the same, even though they basically look the same. It would depend on if someone like Advance Auto or O'Reilly or NAPA has worked with PGI and specified something different for their branded filters. Just like the Fram Titanium sold only at AAP was basically a Fram Ultra, but there were differences specified by AAP to Fram.

By far most of the Microgard Select are coming out of the Vietnam factory HOWEVER there are some of the Select's that come out of China as well:
