How physically active are you?

I checked the food label on Nesquik No Sugar Added and it's got sucralose and ACE K as sweeteners. What's wrong with plain cocoa powder? Not alkalized/Dutch processed cocoa is high in beneficial phytochemicals. If the lactose in the milk doesn't add enough sweetness you can always add a little sugar. 1/2 a teaspoon sugar is less than 3g carbs. Even on a low-carb diet that's doable. BTW, I can't stand hot cocoa made with water. That makes me groan!
Really? I hate it with milk. I’ve never been able to stomach anything with warm milk in it. 🤢

What did they feed you when you were a baby? Plain warm milk makes me run for the hills. Hot cocoa is different. I think it needs the viscosity of milk. Hot cocoa made with water is awfully thin and very unsatisfying to me. Also, the lactose, milk sugar, adds considerable sweetness that offsets the harshness of especially non-alkalized cocoa. If you talk about cocoa/hot chocolate mixes like Nesquik, they all have some dairy in it, like whey or milk solids. And then they have to add a thickener, starch or algae-based, to get the right texture. Ever wonder how much cocoa is actually in a hot cocoa/chocolate mix? It's a rip-off because you get little cocoa and a lot of cheap fillers and conditioners that do nutritionally nothing for you.

there is a great nutritionist app you may consider to download; valuable info in there

I'm 54 and exercise five days a week. I mostly use resistance bands, a suspension trainer, and a Soloflex machine. I'm diabetic so I try to stay active and probably should do more than I do.

I got cold whole milk as a baby lol. I’ve always had it with water. I remember the first time I had it with warm milk I was at a friends house and they gave it to me and it was much lighter than normal and I had to force it down because I didn’t want to be rude LOL. They put the powder in the warm milk.

Cold mother's milk. I'm intrigued but not sure if I really want to pursue this.

I was always pretty active until I injured my back in Jan. 2000. As a teenager in the '70's I I usually road a bicycle 20-60 miles a day during the summer when I was out of school. When I got older and started working I always had jobs that consisted of lots of physical activity so, I was always pretty active until I injured my back in Jan. 2000. Chronic pain slowed me down considerably but for about the last year I've been going to the gym getting in the pool doing water therapy for my back 5 days a week when possible. Water therapy has helped my back and I feel better than I have since I injured my back 21 years ago.

Late 40's and stopped going to the gym about a year ago for obvious reasons. I'm stuck doing bodyweight movements and occasionally ending it with a 1 mile jog. There's no way that I could run 5 miles a day. My right knee has begun to creak, left calf is occasionally experiencing numbness (sitting longer). I miss the days of hitting the gym 3-4 days a week and I don't know if I'll ever go back simply because I don't want to have to work around someone elses time constraints.

Man, I miss the days of going into the office and eating better (Getting triggered just thinking about it).

Love running (road as well as trail), cycling, and mountain biking. Used to do a lot of sportbike riding and dirt bike riding, but haven’t in quite a while. Just got out of the habit, and got more and more into running.

In late 2019, I trained for the Flying Monkey Marathon here in Nashville, which is a mixed road/trail marathon at Percy Warner Park here in town. All hills. But I pulled my right hamstring a couple of weeks before the race while running with the Nashville Harriers, a speed workout group here. So, I didn’t get to race.

That was the last race I trained for. Prior to that, I did the Rocket City Marathon in Huntsville, AL, which was my first and only full road marathon. I was shooting for around 3:05, to qualify for the Boston Marathon, but ended up finishing in 3:18 due to starting out a bit too fast, not taking in enough nutrition, and some cramps in the last few miles.

These days, I’ve been just running for fun and fitness, averaging 3-4 runs per week, along with some body weight exercises (push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups) here and there.

Going back to night shift in Nov. 2019, then getting furloughed for 4 months due to everything going on, and delivering Amazon for those 4 months, then getting married, and our son being born, slowed down the frequency and intensity of my running, but I’m figuring out ways to get my miles and speed back now.

Did a great 11.5 mile hill run (road) last weekend, and a really good 7.5-mile trail run today.

Need to sign up for a race soon! Maybe a half-marathon. That’s my favorite distance. Just a fun distance.

Not as much as I should. I am on my feet all day at work and climbing all over equipment. By the time I get home I am pooped and just want to relax and unwind.

I was like that. If i got in my couch it was impossible to get me out, or I'd fall asleep taking a bath. Now I'm not a mechanic anymore I have too much energy. 4 hours sleep vs 8 hours, 2 slices of bread for lunch iso 6, smaller dinners aswell.

It's probably not you, but the nature of your occupation.

Most people my age I know have at least some knee problems. I think this often happens because people they too much, especially if they are on the heavy side. Also, running on asphalt is rough on the joints. Whenever I can, I run on grass or on the beach. I run around the lake every day but 1/3 of the distance I run on grass or sand. Another thing is to not concentrate on just one kind of exercise. I've always mixed it up. Lately, I've been thinking about getting a surf kayak.
