How physically active are you?

Decomposing is not a good thing. If you are in good shape now, you can still be in good shape later on but not with same endurance or intensity. I got on a bike for the first time in 7 months today and rode 50 minutes. All flat though. Legs sore for half hour after, but I'm guessing the real soreness will be in the morning.
Soreness is good. I like to exercise my muscles to failure. Soreness after exercising doesn't count.
My health issues force a very sedentary life. Formerly very athletic, I'm annoyed, disappointed and frustrated. Sadly, I sometimes still feel like I can crank out a century ride on my cyclocross bicycle. The sad reality is that I can't even walk the dog around the block.
You have do what you can do. It's by the way been shown that thinking about an exercise helps building muscle mass and strength. That's because muscle growth and strengthening are the result of neurological stimulation. I wish I could find the link to the study I recently read about.

EDIT: No idea how I managed to quote and to reply to two people in one post.

I run on the treadmill 6 days a week (40-60 minutes) and I lifg three days a week.

But I overeat and I’m probably 30 pounds overweight right now. I just can’t seem to get motivated. I’m pushing 50 and when I lose weight I actually look older...so it’s tough to get myself into a serious diet knowing what awaits...corpse face, sunken eye sockets, people asking “are you alright?”. But I need to do something...can’t fit into my clothes and I know it’s not good for my health.
It's unusual if you start losing fat proportionally more in your face than elsewhere. Usually, fat loss is proportional. That's why many guys find it impossible to get rid of their gut. Guys tend to have more fat on their bellies than anywhere else. So they can look skinny everywhere else but still have that belly.

I've been recovering from retina reattachment surgery. Starting March 1st,I'll be going back to the gym once again 4-5 times a week.

late 70`s here and do 40-45 minutes of stretches planks then weights and then squats during winter. Lots of physical activity in warm weather in the garden, cutting cord wood etc. Also eat right and do brain teasers am avid reader. Use it or lose it as they say.
Good on you! I hope I can manage to do all that in +30 years.

I hope your vision is alright. Follow your doctor's instructions regarding exercise. My guess would be low-impact workouts only. You don't want another detachment.

Lifting and riding road bike splits into every other day working out 6days 1 day rest at 47 I have the attitude and mind set to do it. Motivation and knowing everyday is not great some awesome sometimes can suck but never say I quit to easy and most people's way out. My body hurts sure just about everyday gains keep adding up and goals always setting the bar higher.

my numbers tonight; more of the same last night

Never enough.... too little and my SI joint seizes. Too much and it seizes.

Just finished a light workout. Treadmill warmup, heavy bag, burgers to mimic a sprawl, 25" box jumps and assault bike finish. Got the lungs burning.

I bicycled 6540 miles in 2020, a little over half what I was doing every year around 10-20 years ago. Walk >1 mile on days I don't forget or can't find an excuse. Can still do about 4 consecutive chin-ups or 6 push-ups----compared to 11 and 30 respectively >50 years ago.

I was a runner in high school and have kept with it. Ran six miles this morning. Usually do this loop at least once a week (sometimes 2 or 3 times). I prefer to go early in the morning, when it's quiet (and cooler in the summer).
I never could run. A short burst ya but any longer distance turned into a walk. Remember being about 4 and not having the energy my friends had.

I snap crackle and pop, not from being over weight, (170# 6'1") but from injuries I got in a motorcycle accident. I broke my neck and had a c2 c3 neck fusion, and pretty much broke everything on my left side, and my left arm was paralyzed. My left akle rotated 240 degrees the wrong way so when I step out of my car the its quite musical, my left shoulder blade does the same. I can't run or jog because my left arm flops around and falls out of socket but I do walk try 2 miles a day. When I was living in Mexico City I walked everwhere and it was a beast at first because of the altitude.

Nothing except work in a shop 6 days a week and then do road calls too and work on stuff on Sunday lol. Does that count as exercise? I have no idea how much I weigh but I’d say I’m average for my age. I cut back on sodas a bit now. I like to drink chocolate milk now and half and half LOL. I’ll be 19 in April and I feel young most days lol. Been working in a shop since I was a kid and doing it as a career since 16 don’t plan on changing careers or cutting back on working. By the time work ends I am tired and have to come home to work on more stuff lol. But there isn’t ever a day I just lay in bed that’s kinda boring lol. Today I got a nice workout because my parents cleaned out all of the junk from the guest bedroom then couldn’t find anything to part with so I had to move it all back in there including the 200 pound dinosaur tube tv that was definitely a workout. So I’m pretty active. As a child I was but I couldn’t run around or anything with my friends because I would get my tail whipped lol unless we were outside or at the park.

I’m in my mid-40’s and am more active than ever training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 4-5 hours a week. Prior to now the only physical activity I did with any regularity was riding dirt bikes and mountain bikes but that was sporadic.

Not as active as I should/used to be, but by no means sedentary.... always moving, even when in the normal office conditions at work. Never sit and watch tv. But not as much time for exercise just for the sake of exercise either. Havent gone to the gym since Corona.

Did do cycling and strength training on Peloton today. It’s a pretty nice setup for many reasons.

For the most part, outside of genetics,it's probably all about maintaining. I'm 6'1,165 lbs,32 inch waist. I also think core strength is the most important thing to emphasize on. Most people want to bulk up and forget about maintaining their core, which is what really keeps you strong. Then there's my girlfriend. She's 55 and can run circles around me. She always out runs me and out hikes me every time. She never seems to tire out!! She even got carded last year when we were going into a Latin club we'd never been to before. I was like, huh?? Haha!! And it went straight to her head!! But she's tiny (5'0 and a size 0) and Latina, so that may make her not look her age. Latina women seem to always have really good skin. She doesn't have a single wrinkle anywhere.

I don't have the healthiest diet, but all my stats/numbers are impeccable (knocking on wood).

Do you add half and half to the chocolate milk mixture? Whole milk? That sounds really good!! I'm about to drink my second glass of chocolate milk.

If you ever read on bodybuilding forums, bodybuilders actually drink lots of chocolate milk to help bulk up. I wonder if it's the whey protein that's in chocolate milk mix powder?
