Ask the dealer for the breakdown of that $617 price tag. It is your money and you have every right to know it. Then you will know which parts will be changed and which parts may cost you extra.

Nobody else in this forum can give you the answer except that dealer.

I would make sure that oil cooler is not leaking...i had one V40 that FILLED the cooling system with oil, requiring a complete overhaul. Does the coolant have an oily texture to it?

No, thank God. I should have snapped a pic of after I topped it off with 50/50 of that Maxlife "safe to mix" coolant I bought, and distilled water.. looked normal and green.

I can detect no transmission fluid, nor oil. Just old, dirty, watery-looking brown coolant. Almost looked like a toilet looking down in that coolant reservior.

And what do you do when your toilet looks like that?

You flush it.

You should flush your cooling system, too.

BC.

Why are you changing your coolant?
If you're getting the Timing Belt done soon anyway, they'll be doing the water pump at the same time, which means the coolant will be drained.

Just a little update for everyone following: The selling of that Galaxy SIII (presently selling for $320) kicks off the -official- start of the "Timing Belt" fund. (That phone is still listed in Items For Sale on here, btw. Because it is.) Starting to second-guess Sam's workmanship, as he forgot to top off the fluid on that CTS sensor. Dealer quoted me $617.. probably does not include WP, etc etc. Considering letting them do it, for that price. Sam would probably want the same... So, ~halfway there, as of next week. I also returned to employment, and am still using up Unemployment, still on Food Stamps, so.

Perhaps January, for T-belt. Just wanted to address the perpetual question.

Thank you. Should be relatively quiet before then, and I will likely cave, by these ramps, http://www.amazon.com/Hopkins-11909-Rhin...words=car+ramps and get up under there and change some fluids. Since I MUST do something, yes.

And sorry for being rude, OVERK1LL. Sort of in a worry state over those perfect rims, 80% chance they still are, but, hey. I like you, man. Please stick around. Thanks!

2 8.4oz are on sale, 2 for $4. Got a 12-oz today.

I alternate days.

I also put 6oz. A-RX in the oil, and 6oz. A-RX in the trans. Since I don't have my ramps, or $$$ ($$$$?) for T-belt yet.

Car is serving ladyfriend well tomorrow. We love "V."

Which perfect rims are you talking about?

The picture you put up from the "alledged" kerbing incident didn't look to be that "mint" before the kerbing.

It looked dirty and had what looked like scuffing round the edge..

But I could be mistaken as the picture really was not much use.

Try taking it in daylight next time. Or at least not in the shade.

You're on a Red Bull fueled cleaning binge! I assume your home is spotless!?!

Sounds like you really like to tinker - you'd love some of the fuel additive threads with TCW3 vs acetone, etc!
When I buy a used car, the first few weeks involve a bit of refreshing/maintenance, and the ambition and work levels quickly drop off luckily.

Erm, no they are nowhere near a mint set of rims that you have inferred.

But here is a clue.

Your wheels are dirty, not just a bit of dust, but that is ingrained dirt, there are signs of kerbing and the paint on the central flat areas near the bolt holes is also showing signs age.

Now when you clip a kerb the dirt will be removed from that spot and you will she shiny virgin alloy, making seeing minor damage from kerbing very, very easy.

A thought somebody that knows as much about cars as you believe would be able to spot this sort of damage.

The one thing in life people need to have is the ability to be honest about their knowledge and the limitations of this knowledge.

I didn't see that smiley. Nice one!

And yes, I am gonna get that fluid out. It actually shifts really, really nice now. Just as long as I don't leave that old, [censored] fluid in there..
