Fram Defends Paper Endcaps

Just look at the quality control, forget about the endcaps. Every Fram I have seen has uneven pleats, very little filtering media and after they are used get really ugly.

Purolator and Wix just have the appearance of a much higher quality filter. What this translates to in the real world, I don't know. All I know is the orange can looks cheap.

I think what would concern me the most about the OCOD is the lack of pleates they have. I'm sure their high end filter is a quality piece.

Now the Fram haters wanna know why they use metal end caps. They just can't stop. I don't understand how bright BITOG people suddenly become dumb with Frams. Like the mind shuts down and they wanna believe paper end cap myths. Weird.

Let me try to explain it to you, although I don't think you will listen. You OCOD defenders have solidly closed your minds to this: I am not going to buy a Fram because there is no way I will pay the current price for a $ 2 - 3 filter. That is just about all there is to it.

This post probably has the most truth to it as any of them. The OCOD defenders buy the orange filter because of what's on the OUTSIDE of the filter. Will it get the job done? Usually. Does it have the best internal features? Usually never. The best filter for the money? Never. But hey, somebody has to pay for the 20-foot inflatable orange filters at the race tracks and the orange close-ups when they build an engine on a TV show.

Fram can try to spin it however they want. The cardboard endcaps are there because they are cheaper than metal ones. Not because of any benefits.

Good point ... it is advertised as a long OCI filter.
