Found this video by Fram that pretty much tells us the material of the end discs (caps) in oil filters doesn't matter. If it wasn't for my education from BITOG here, I may have actually believe what this Fram Rep says. Not sure if this has been posted before, but here ya go.

Guess Fram got sick of people putting them down due to the fiber endcaps and decided to set us straight in this video

The other day, someone pulled up in their car and said they were lost and could I help them out getting to their destination. I told him he was going the wrong way, he should turn around and the road he wants is about a mile back. He thanked me for my advice and continued to drive in the wrong direction.
Sometimes I feel the same way about how people buy oil filters.

Exactly. What have I learned here? FRAM is the main reason for world hunger, Pennzoil Ultra is made from unicorn tears and can magically heal any engine, and Mobil 1 kills Jeep engines with iron eating acid.

I don't understand the obsession with Fram end caps. I've cut apart several, and they were all well-bonded to the media, including one that had been submerged in water for some months. I'm not a Fram fanboy, although I have a number of Frams in my garage; some I got for free in a filter exchange, and some I got for less than 2 bucks from a closeout. If they had been giving away Purolators, I'd be using them. E-cores, not so much.

As was mentioned earlier, the metal end caps are there because the wire support structure in the Ultra can't we welded or bonded to the regular fiber end caps.

I still haven't heard anyone say anything about the dozens of filters by multiple manufacturers in new cars that don't have end caps at all.

Why would he? Everybody knows that Fram is the worst filter in the world! Everybody on Bob's site says so!
 
He showed a genuine toyota filter with no end caps at all. Would love to learn about those designs and how it works or benefits w/o the end caps.

Anyone ever autopsied one before ( the genuine toytoa one)?

Nevermind, found a vid on the genuine toy filter. looked quite scarey, can't believe Toy would approve that kind of filter.

FRAM only makes one good oil filter that is spin-on. The ULTRA.

But it is your money, your vehicle. I just don't see how the FRAM at the beginning filters anything at all.


That Fram filter looked like a toy thing a child would play with LOL. I'm with ya on this one Falk!
