Favorite gun, owned or want to own

That would be a straw purchase....just saying
Not sure how the law is down there, but up here, if both parties are licensed, there is nothing wrong with buying the other person a gun as a gift. Straw purchases up here are generally viewed as when somebody is buying somebody else a gun because that person can't buy a gun (because they can't get a license).

I was lucky enough to get to pick my 1903 out of the rack at the CMP office in camp perry in 2005.. mine appears to be unfired after a rebuild in the mid 40’s.. a great shooter, although I don’t shoot it enough.
Every day I keep searching for one. Hard to find in southern California

I'd be happy with just my standard issue M4; pitacanny rails, ironsights, and an ACOG. Familiarity is my biggest strength with this. Too bad IL doesn't allow ar15 sales anymore.

Do they allow possession if it was previously owned?

Yes, they'll let current owners grandfather it in. IL residents are also supposed to "register" it with the IL state police but lower than an estimated 1% of owners have done so.

Would the same be true for someone that moves to Illinois, and already owns AR style weapons?

Sounds like a built in loop-hole. Someone in IL has your back.

There are other states.......

I believe it applies for out-of-state residents moving into IL as long as the barrel/total length and magazine capacities still fit within IL laws. It doesn't out law the possession of AR style weapons, only the sale and transfer. However, IL residents "cannot" go out to a different state and purchase an AR style weapon either.

Yea I figured there were a few other states that did too. I mistakingly sold my M&P15 a year before the ban went into effect because I didn't realize something like that was going through.

So, are you saying that if you came to another state, like NC, and bought a rifle, you could not return to IL legally?

Of course, if their "registration" is not enforced, how would they know?

Sounds like IL can stick it right up where the sun don't shine. To be honest it is infuriating to me. Their should be no limitation.

This would be another one. Still today, out of the box, factory ammo, or match ammo, consistantly the most accurate semi auto I have ever had the pleasure to deal with.

Springfield M1A and a bolt action 270. Haven't decided which particular one yet. I used to want a single shot Ruger Model 1 but I haven't thought much about one in a long time.

The owners are supposed to register them with Illinois state police which would probably show the sale/transfer but without them knowing that, I suppose it goes down to if the FFL dealer.
