Do Microgard select oil filters leak?

i’ve never had an oil filter leak. i’ve always spun them on and go 1 turn after gasket makes contact if possible.

as far as the microgard select, i have probably spun more carquest premiums (same filter OEM) on than anyone on here and i’ve yet to have one leak.

look up “carquest premium 84502 C&P” for just how many i’ve posted here.

Is Carquest OK to use for a 2001 Camry?

Just pulled the base Microguard off the Wife's Subaru Monday afternoon - no leaks externally.
I will say the engine is much quieter with the Tokyo Roki AA20A - I did this "early" OCI at 4500 mi due to too much racket.

I have had several brands leak at the crimped seam. I'm sure that's what they are talking about.
Back in the 90's Puroleakers. But thinking back, how was I sure it was the crimp and not the base gasket? IDK.

We even had some esteemed Wix during their heyday leak at the base gasket on EJ Subaru. No Issues with Tokyo Roki with the captured P-ring gasket and you tighten until the crimp kisses the mounting face.

I had an oil filter leak on my friend's '15 Altima 4 banger. Some idiot did not screw it down enough; it was barely tight and easily spun off.

I am the only one who worked on this car. Oh yeah, there is nothing wrong with that Microgard filter.

Only filter I've ever had leak was a Baldwin B160. Changed oil one evening, took it for a spin after, then parked it. Next morning came out and there's a puddle of oil soaked into concrete. I get under and the oil filter wasn't even hand tight. Chucked it in the trash, went and got a Fram Ultra, and continued on. Haven't even looked at Baldwin since.
