I'm having quite a few problems with my next door neighbor, who I don't want to take to court, not only because it takes a long time reach an agreement, but a travel ban is imposed on both parties until the court case is dealt with.
I live in a house that is attached to the neighbor's, just like all the other houses in the neighborhood. When he was building his property, he dealt with a bunch of con artists who were overpaid and under delivered. So he's got a water leak problem in his basement.
It started off last year. I'm a big fan of plants, especially in a desert climate, so I used to have a bunch of daffodils at the back of the house, which were in a 4 meter row, to sort of put a border between his parking area and mine. He started complaining about water leaks in his basement because I was watering these plants, and it got to a point where my family decided there's no need to be on bad terms with the neighbors and relocated them to the garden.
Then he started complaining that every time I wash my vehicles (once a week), he has water leaking into his basement and that my pressure washer was the cause. Again, to maintain good relations, I started using a bucket instead and now my paintwork is swirl galore. Apparently, whenever I cleaned my wheels, there was also water going in, so now I have to pay to use a car wash. Then I have the inconvenience of taking two different vehicles separately. He even complains because I have "great big cars" when a "4 cylinder is more than enough".
The next thing I know, he complains about a small bird house I built that's at a corner of my garden. I put it there because it's always in the shade, and tend to leave some bird seed there and fresh water for all the sparrows and pigeons. Apparently, they were flying around and making a 'huge' mess on his premises. Same complaint because I was feeding stray cats. Then I had to get rid of it all together.
Recently he started complaining about me working on my cars, after seeing me pull part of the dashboard apart to replace bulbs, and I was told off because "this is a residential neighborhood and not a garage". That really got on my nerves, because it's simply none of his business what I do on my property, provided I'm not doing anything illegal. So we ended up having quite an argument.
Today, something else happened. There was a small group of cyperus (desert) plants growing where I used to have my daffodils. I was temporarily leaving them untouched, whilst trying to allocate a place for them in my garden. I walk out this morning only to find they have been pulled out and thrown away. I haven't physically seen him do it, but another neighbor was asking me why my neighbor was so stingy about my plants and water usage. This is just getting out of hand!
