Maybe the xA just has a better cabin air filter
If any of those cars were airtight, you would asphyxiate with the A/C on recirc.

The EPA classifies the current Accord as a fullsize or "large" car. The current Accord feels bigger on the inside to me than the current Taurus. How much more legroom does one need?
You'd probably still smell it regardless of cabin air filter. My BMW has two of them, and has a "stink detector" as part of the climate control that will switch off pulling from the outside and go to recirc when it detects foul odours in the air. Then transition back to pulling in fresh air once it sense the air doesn't stink anymore.
Maybe the one has a greater percentage of recirc as part of the regular HVAC system than the other?
