Castrol Edge Extended Performance 0W20

ESP X2 0W20 might be a more comparable competitor to Edge EP 0W20 if North American OEM approvals are not a concern.
There’s no reason why Mobil would pay Dexos royalties for Dexos 1 unfortunately. Given how many options they already offer in their other lines. I’d use the ESP if it was rated.

Speak of the devil.

Thats the old formula. The new Castrol EP gold bottle is 25000 miles. No idea if there is a difference. I just wish Walmart would stock this again.
There been several recent posts suggesting the oils were reformulated with the new brand refresh. Castrol's PDS still has the old 20k mile data.

Still has DG3 and MB229.71, regardless of mileage on the bottle it has the license/cert.
I'm going to play it safe and just keep the Amazon 6qt case order for now. I'd like to have the most up to date formulation if possible.

I think they’re either using a custom add pack from one of the majors and/or a hybrid booster, as all of the Edge 0W-xx grades are being advertised to be “hybrid compatible.”

Help! So Amazon delivered today. Looks like the old 20k formula. Dexos license# is the same. However its missing the jaguar cert. Can anyone confirm of it's just a label change or is the new 25k oil reformulated. I think I might return it 😑

It's been reformulated and titanium has been excluded in the new formula from what I was told

I sent email to Castrol USA in hopes of clarification on the formulation. The Data sheet for the 20k Edge EP and UK C5 Edge look Identical. No 25k mile datasheet available.

Customer service has confirmed that all the Edge oils have been reformulated with Molybdenum and removed the titanium.

I'd ask for a refund since you can't return it. They delivered the wrong product. If it's not them being incompetent, it's fraud. Since you've been in touch w Castrol I'd let them know if it happens again.

What's different about your label and the old label?
If it's in the old looking jugs, it's probably the old formula. If the formula did change, they would use the new label, just like the new Black Castrol Edge label was brought out as.

When was the last time you saw the old label with the Jaguar cert, on a store shelf?
What viscosity was the Jaguar cert attached to?

.

Arguably, the older formulation should be as good or better as we know Castrol has excluded Titanium from their new formulas due to cost saving purposes.

Not necessarily. May not have had the synergy with the Ti or they could be using a new FM or AW additive.

I'm a first time Castrol user. This is what I received. New 25k formula has Jaguar certs. However looks like the MB spec is tougher.
