OEM is becoming quite competitive compared to the aftermarket. My son is a general manager for a decent sized used car dealership. He's commented a few times that the dealer is often the best price when he's shopping for parts.

I mentioned in the thread about my Audi 200 valve covers that just about every part on my 1984 F-150 is an actual Motorcraft part. The only things that aren't were due to a couple emergencies, like a heater core and a voltage regulator. A buddy laughs at me since I insist on Motorcraft wiper blades, but hey, they're cheaper than just about anywhere else.

Filter prices are good, and the tire changes are competitive. I do know that just about every dealer in the city here runs rings around the quick lube places for the price on an oil change. They're all under $40 (unless of course you have something like a diesel truck with a 15 litre sump) and some as low as $30.

Even a "high end" Fram.

What's the thoughts on filters these days? I'm not really looking to buy an inferior filter to save a few bucks. BUT if I can get the same quality for less, I'm there!

Obviously you are not worried about savings because you paid $8 more for PU when PP is cheaper and PROVEN to be an outstanding oil for even up to 14k in some engines. Also you don't want to do extended oci with this expensive oil so you are going to waste money again draining this oil between 3-5k, so just go ahead and continue to use the expensive M1 oil filter since you have already proven you are going to waste money. This might be harsh but it's the truth.
