My Buick Park Ave can use any of these sizes of filters...
Wix 51036, Wix XP 51036XP
Baldwin B35-S
Purolator L24011, Purolator One PL24011
Fram Endurance, Fram Racing
What other filters should be on this list?

I'm looking for filters with filtration efficiency similar to Purolator One (15 microns nominal), good anti-drainback valve, good bypass valve, coil spring (no leaf spring), good flow and capacity.

A nice bonus would be if the can is thicker than a Purolator One can to help can withstand flying gravel hits when driving on gravel roads.

I've always used Wix 21 MC nom, or Baldwin 18 MC nom. I now realize I can get more efficient filtration for the same or less money from Purolator and others.

I'm trying to compile a list of contenders that are good, hopefully at a decent price. I'd prefer the price to be under $15 per filter.

The Purolator and Purolator One seem like strong contenders, but I wish they had a thicker/stronger can.

How good are these filters? Valvoline, Mobil One, Oreilly Microgard, Walmart Supertech? I think some of those might be disqualified due to having a leaf spring.

I'm open to considering other brands.

I change my oil once every 3-5 years, which is less than 1500-2500 miles 50/50 city highway. My car is parked in a partially climate controlled (but energy efficient) garage. Depending on time of year, my garage temp varies from 50-60F winter to 65-75F summer. So never a cold start below 50F. Rarely a cold start below 65F.

I changed my Maxlife Syn 5w30 oil this week at 3.5 years, 1747 miles. The old oil was medium brown. Not black at all. It almost looked like new. I switched from Maxlife Syn to Blend to hopefully stop or slow a minor drip. I replaced my old Baldwin B35-S filter with a new B35-S because I'd already bought it weeks ago. B35-S only filters 18 microns nominal. Purolator One filters 15 microns nominal.

I'm asking for suggestions to compile a list of good filters that are reasonable prices (under $15). Purolator One PL24011 costs $9.83 at Amazon or Walmart.

Carquest Premium and MicroGard Select have pretty thick cans, and are 99% @ 20 and 99% @ 25u respectively. Both around $9-$10.
Who makes Carquest Premium? It sounds good. When you say Microgard Select, I assume you mean Oreilly?

If you have the full specs or spec sheets please post them. If not, I'll try to find them online or from manufacturer.

That filter crosses to the Fleetguard LF782, and the upgrade for that filter is the Fleetguard LF3554, which unfortunately doesn't list efficiency. Perhaps @NashNative can get the specs for that filter.
LF782 spec sheet says: 24.6 microns @ 95%
LF3554 spec sheet says: 30 MICRONS EFFICIENCY, TWA: 100 %
I copy-pasted that ^ from spec sheets to here.

Those both look good to my half educated mind, but I don't know why they gave apples to oranges filtration spec ratings. I don't quite know how to compare those.

I'm guessing that ^ info indicates they each filter approx 100% of 30 micron particles? That would be the same filtration as Purolator One, but hopefully the Fleetguard has a thicker can. When I have time to study Fleetguards specs in more detail, I can probably verify if its can is thicker-stronger than the Purolater One can.

I've heard mostly good things about Supertech oil filters, but I also heard they use a leaf spring for their bypass valve. Is that correct? I want to avoid filters that use leaf springs. I prefer coil spring with silicon or any type of better (than rubber) seal.

Click on OVERKILL'S blue text, it will take you to Fleetguard's website and contact information.
Thanks. I didn't realize it was clickable text. I clicked on it and downloaded the Fleetguard filter spec sheets. I'll give them a good read.

Edited in Later: See post #5, which I updated after you read and replied to it.

I second this⬆️

Currently the build quality of Premium Guard made filters is excellent combined with great efficiency it’s hard to beat.
I'm interested and curious. Who makes Carquest Premium? I assume Microgard Select is Oreilly Microgard Select?

How does a person get specs from Oreilly on anything? I've tried to get specs on Oreilly products with no success.

A US company called Premium Guard(filters made overseas) makes Carquest Premium and Microgard Select, both of these are 10,000 mile filters. I’ll post some pics of the Microgard Select specs and all the PG made filters.

I just read in another thread or somewhere online that Carquest Premium and Oreilly Microgard Select are both made by Champion and both Champion and Fram are owned by parent company Fram Filtration.

Is that ^ incorrect or outdated info?

That is currently incorrect. Maybe years ago. My list has the current PG made filters.

Fram and Champ Labs are both owned by First Brands which has the same QC problems as M+H.

No one else is sharing that data so we can't answer that question. There are other filters that I & others like simply due to quality construction. Any Premium Guard built filters have proven to be good quality. You can get Oreilly's Auto Microgard Select or Napa Premium that should be built by the same company. Otherwise just stick with the Purolator One. They are well built filters & It comes with the data efficiency that you're trying to find.

Having the individual spec sheets are definitely a positive. I don’t know another company doing it. Just wish I could get a straight answer on the efficiency discrepancies.

Right 👍 Pretty lousy to think about many CO's not wanting to share an important specification about their filters but people need them regardless so the money switches hands. Frustrating to the rabbit hole bitog folk. 😆
