I just talked to Baldwin. Their tech support is like nothing I've ever seen before. They went out of their way to answer all my questions and seemed in no hurry. In one case the tech person couldn't answer one of the questions I had and immediately connected me with an engineer. I got immediate answers! Here are some filter media specs.

PF47 = B43-S -> 22 micron media
PF52 = B35-S -> 22 micron media
PF59 = B1432 -> 12 micron media

I originally called about an engine oil filter for my Cub Cadet Kohler 20HP engine. My choices were a 3.5" filter with 20 micron media and 4.85" filter with 12 micron media. The engineer said the greater surface are of the larger filter would help balance the pressure differential so that flow would not be hindered while getting the better filtration of the 12 micron media. Very interesting.

I think the PF59 has different threads then the PF47 and PF52. The PF59, I believe, has this same threads as the PF44 and PF1218.

I hope I didn't confuse anyone. I wasn't suggesting that these filters are all interchangable. These are simply three of the filters I use. The PF52 is a long PF47. The PF59 is for a totally different application.
