All about Carquest oil filters

Well. Federated is out for me. Checked at my local store today. The guy at the parts counter never heard of the Federated brand filters. So he called the area "VP" who oversees the eight stores in my area. He said he looked at those filters and declined to stock them as he thought they are "inferior" filters. They only stock WIX.

So I stopped by my Autozone and looked at the STP XL filters. All of them were Made in China.

Those STP XL made in China are the PG made filters. Just like Federated. Those are the ones you want.

I found that Rowleys Wholesale - https://www.rowleys.com/ - sellls Service Pro filters and that they ship. I was able to make an account and go through the check-out process. The E4622 Extended Protection Oil Filter, equivalent to the XG7317, sells in a six pack for $34.32, however the deal breaker is that they want $29.84 for FedEx Ground. I wonder if Rowleys could be convinced to offer a BITOG group buy discount. I'd bet if they could bring pricing down to $7-8 shipped, they'd probably sell a ton of them.

Thanks! The E4620 comes up as $5.64ea or $33.84 case of 6. If their shipping cost could come down a bit, what a sweet deal. Anyone else know how to tap into a ServicePro wholesale house if not Rowleys?

Is parts plus filters the same as carquest? I just ordered a couple dozen of the standard filter and the heft is impressive for such a small filter.

yeah usually if it shows made in China or Vietnam it is coming from Premium Guards network of factories that they contract with which also make most of the Carquest filters.

Mine are “Made in China”. I just walked in from the garage comparing the parts plus to a carquest premium. Minus the adbv, they look the same. The parts plus are actually a little longer than fram, champ and oem. If I had a digital scale I’d bet they’re heavier as well. Rock auto says it’s a 5k filter, but I’d have no problems running these the full length of the OLM.

yeah you have the basic model which always comes with rubber parts like the Carquest basic model etc.. .. They also have the extended model which has the silicone adbv and silicone gasket which is the one comparable to the Carquest Premium.
