Here is one of the many China CQP’s I’ve cut. All silicone. Not to say a run of nitrile was never made due to shortages.Negative. The Made in China have a nitrile gasket while the Made in Vietnam have a silicone gasket.
@Swiftks - I did the same thing on the same part number, looking through every box on the shelf and in the back. Once I realized the difference in gaskets, I no longer had to take the filter completely out to know the COA. Found an even dozen.
I have two made 2023 China 84356 that have nitrile sealing gaskets. That noted, with decades of diy all with nitrile gasket filters and no issues, I don't feel shortchanged. Silicone gasket a nice extra though. Currently running the China made 84356 for a year getting ready to pull and plan c&p here soon. Will be replaced with same. I do have a few newer Vietnam coo in the stashHere is one of the many China CQP’s I’ve cut. All silicone. Not to say a run of nitrile was never made due to shortages......

Based on the data presented by Chip Hewette after analyzing data from Speediagnostix, the data shows the less contaminated the oil, the less wear. This includes using high quality filters with the lowest micron rating at the highest efficiency. LSJr has even recently had the same view as yours, you don't need the best if changing the oil at more regular OCIs. After Chip's findings, even he's starting to believe quality oil filtration is worth the investment. Of course, if you don't plan on keeping it "forever"...OCI's within 3K - 5K, you can just use OEM filters. I've been using OEM's on my cars since they were just about new, with a few Ecogard's mixed in when I caught them on sale. The OEM's aren't expensive, and they get the job done IMO. I also run between 3K - 5K OCI's, and have no issues with the engines. All the cars have well over 100K miles on them. Don't make yourself go nuts over oil filters that you're gonna change out fairly quickly anyway. Just my $0.02.
I thought about that too, after saying they're nitrile. Should have bought one to C&P. At a minimum, I should have taken a picture.I wonder if the Carquest Premiums with the black ADBV are using black silicone. A burn test would verify.
Maybe some odd ball ones, but certainly not "all" Carquest filters. The Carquest Premiums and Carquest Extended Performance are definitely Premium Guard Inc (PGI).Went to my Advanced Auto and we started discussing Fram situation, etc. She claims Baldwin makes all Car Quest filters?

I could tell she wasn't very interested in the truth. Not a warm feeling...so I didn't push. Thought it was funny...LOL why didn't you just tell her to grab a few Carquest Premium's and EP's and show her ?
I didn't know my ex-wife moved to Texas...I could tell she wasn't very interested in the truth. Not a warm feeling...so I didn't push. Thought it was funny...
