Hi everyone. New user, long time forum reader. I work at Advance Auto and we carry the Carquest brand filters. I'm curious where all the filters are sourced from and who is making them.

I believe the current Carquest filters, both the red and blue, except for the hydraulic filters are made by Premium Guard. They are souced from several different countries, mostly China and Vietnam, and some from India. Here are the current filters. The red is a multi-pack filter and the blue is a one packaged for retail.

The Carquest hydraulic (and HD) filters are made by Baldwin. The hydraulic filters are still readily available but the HDs seem to be very limited availability or discontinued.

Here's one of the old-style Carquest Premium filters and boxes. They were made in USA. These are discontinued, and there is limited inventory left. I think they may have been Wix or Purolator?

Just curious about the quality of these filters and if anyone knows where they are sourced from. Thanks!

the red and blues are made by premium guard. the reds are okay filters with a nitrile ADBV but the blues are the hot ticket right now. also premium guards and the XL versions. cheapest way into the XL premium guard line. i use them and fram endurances exclusively on the fleet.

The blues look like excellent filters. Silicone ADBV and gasket, nice finish on the cans. We sell a lot of them to commercial customers. I hate that they aren't US-made but they still seem like a good filter. Anyone know anything about the Carquest cartridge oil filters? My F150 uses a cartridge filter and I'm hesitant to use anything other than Motorcraft on it, but if the Carquests are acceptable, I'd use them.

the vietnam models are built nicer than anything made in america at the moment. you have to remember made in america doesn’t hold the value it once did. the cartridge filters should also be premium guards. just check the filter prior to purchase. make sure it doesn’t have any M+H signs as they previously built CQ filters. check some of my C&P’s of these filters. this is an 84502 that crosses to a fram 10575 size.

The HD suffix ones may be Baldwin made, I have a couple in the stash (85060HDs). Those would be made in the USA, with a black ADBV (probably nitrile).
The HDs are Baldwin-made; the newest ones say Clarcor on the box and are made in Mexico, like this one. They are still very limited selection and inventory, we only carry maybe one of each part number.

Made in USA definitely doesn't mean what it used to, but I still try to support companies that keep their manufacturing domestic. Despite that, the PG filters look nice. I'll take a look at one of the cartridge filters next chance I get.

There are very good filters made here in the USA so don't think these are the only high quality filters. However, they've consistently been a high quality option for a reasonable price with easy availability (Your employer etc). I know Baldwin was purchased by Parker Hannifin a few years back but the auto chains realized there was a high quality manufacturer overseas. Think it started with Oreilly's & then the rest picked up on it as well (Premium Guard). I would be mindful that most likely not all of those filters will be made by PG but a good chunk are these days. They've proven to be an excellent filter that stands out in the crowd. Sell as many as you can. ;)

That's honestly disappointing, that was one of the main reasons for buying Baldwin-USA made quality, made by a reputable long term company. Looks like Premium Guard is the one to use now, or possibly FB "Framp".

Carquest premium oil filters are good filters, Can't remember if I ever used a carquest standard oil filter.

I picked up a couple of the blue carquest filters last week to use on my 5.4 F150 in place of motorcraft fl820s. Look like a nice filter, and cheaper than the motorcraft.
Yep the Premium Guard Carquest Blues are really nice filters and very nicely priced too. If customers don't have a brand preference for filter, I typically grab the Carquest Blue for them.

Right now there is a couple decent oil deals- $36.99 for 5 quarts of Pennzoil Platinum or Castrol EDGE with ANY filter.

Not sure if it is Walmart-level cheap, but really not bad for the parts store.
