I just saw some information online that a guy stated the Carquest blue premium oil filters are made by Baldwin. This same person said the regular Carquest red filters are made by M+H.
This does seem like a very possible circumstance given that I have noticed Advance Auto parts sales flyer mentioning filters made by Baldwin. If I remember right it mentions those filters in the heavy duty section/diesel section. However.. it seems like Baldwin took over the oil filter manufacturing for the Carquest blue premium oil filters too. I got a Carquest blue premium 84356 oil filter today and it did seem heavy. Noticeably heavier than a blue Purolator filter. Just giving you guys a heads up that you can find Baldwin made Carquest blue filters now.

Huh??!!? Cool deal. Yeah I like the fact that Carquest blue filters are now made by Baldwin. I wonder if Napa going that way too?? Interesting.

That's awesome! Glad they're dumping Tearolator

I would imagine that this would only apply to the heavy duty line (diesel). Confirmation is needed.
Just doing some googling on the subject, it appears with the suffix HD added to 84356, pic shows what looks to be Baldwin construction. It also indicates a ~$2 price premium (~$10) to the current CQ blue 84356. Also shows what appears to be nitrile adbv vs of silicone for the latter. That's a thumbs down imo. That would however be consistent with majority Baldwin construction. Also standard CQ blue 84356 showing in stock most stores, OOS in HD suffix. That said, at AAP prices even with max online discount, little chance I'd purchase either. Certainly wouldn't pay more for application with nitrile adbv.

As for Napa, having checked out on sale Platinum and Gold recently, still Wix made, no change. A good thing ime and imo.

Mann-Hummel are Purolator so nothing is really changing on the red filters at least.
