It seems that Napa and Carquest both use Ashland/Valvoline for their storebrand oils, they also use Wix for their store brand filters. My question is does anyone know if the Napa Golds are same in quality to the premium Carquest blues? The reason I ask, is I can get the Carquest filters a little cheaper!

anyone ever cut open a red or premium clue Carquest?

Probably the same. They are made by Wix. Both of them Collect up to 45% more dirt than other brands according to the way they market them.

From what I have read on other websites and from what I actually saw (but did not cut open) a filter that fits the Jeep 3.7L V6 motor......NAPA Gold = Carquest Blue = WIX... The only difference is a paint job and the name.

I think that the other NAPA and Carquest oil filter product lines are just cheaper versions (...not bad, but lower quality than this first group.....)

As for the Carquest motor oils...are they identical to the NAPA oils???

I understand NAPA is basically Valvoline, but with a cheaper additive package. But, I have not heard anything about Carquest oil yet....

I used to work for Carquest and know for fact that their oil is Ashland/Valvoline, just with a lesser additive pack. Used it a ton in my Saturn and it did very well with that oil, used less oil and leaked less from the rear seal than it did when I switched to Mobil 5000 when I left Carquest.

Today I picked up some CarQuest blue filters for a couple oil changes. The manager told me that CarQuest might get bought by AutoZone. If this is true. Oreilly or Napa will get my filter business. Or the other option is fleetfilter.com. Bad experiences at AZ will keep me from ever going back.
