Ok, I regularly purchase the Napa Gold(1334) for my 95 integra rs. Through BITOG, I have found that carquest also sells wix(red and blue where blue is equal to the napa gold)....but what confused me was that the carquest filter were not as wide as the napa gold! I thought both companies were supposed to sell the same wix filters? (I will admit they were all solidly built filters nonetheless but the napa gold was definately a wider filter and while at the carquest store actually apologized and declined making the purchase!)

So, any opinions as to the difference in size comparisons for the same vehicle.....napa gold(1334) and carquest(51334)?

Thank you for you opinions and time but when I asked the carquest salesperson, he counld not answer my question so I am bit confused?

Thanx Gary,

I totally understand and was aware that the carquest filter was a rebadged wix, but I am extremely curious about the different size filter(Napa Gold 1334 being a wider filter than carquest)...They're all rebadged Wix's..so why the difference? That's why I stuck with Napa 1334!...I figure if anything, Napa's can hold more oil!

Well, although the red may be made by Wix ..the Blue is supposed to be a rebadged Wix.

There's some confusion on this. Wix makes a bunch of filters under a number of banners. Just like Purolator, Champ Labs, whomever. If I call them up ...and have the cash, a Gary Allan filter will be available at whatever quality level I spec. Wix has the distinction of ONLY marketing ONE quality line of filter under the Wix® trademark. They don't offer a Premium Plus and a Pure One two tier line with the Wix label. This single offering is rebadged to NAPA GOLD and (AKAIK) Carquest Blue. All other filters produced by Wix (NAPA Pro Select, etc.) never ever see a Wix label anywhere else in the market. In short ..all filters made by Wix are not rebadged Wix filters. They're custom constructed and labeled filters produced by Wix for a given target price market (trade, quick lube, etc.).

So, that Carquest Blue should be identical to the Wix or Napa Gold if Carquest is still having Wix rebadge the Wix filter. I would be confused too.

The Napa Gold 1334 is the widest filter available for our car, for the record

my filter wrench won't even fit it! They're good filters though, I've used one on my 'teg once. I have another in my stash, too. Gonna try Purolator this time, though.

Since these other filters are made by Wix, in theory at least, they should be quality filters.

All I know HondaMan is that when I went to Napa, I am given the 1334, which I have been purchasing for the past year or so and thanx to BITOGers, but on the Wix website, the recommended filter is the 1334. I was just expecting to get the exact same size filter at Carquest but instead they are selling the red and blue(both being smaller than that at Napa!) I have to admit though that this site is extremely addictive and I have learned so much from all of you!

Cheers

ThirdeYe,

I'm aware the 1334(Napa Gold)is the correct filter for our car and I love them(Napa Gold)! I guess the way it works is that although wix produces the napa gold and the carquest filters, they are not the exact same filters! I assume that wix produces carquest's to their spec's and nothing else...but Napa Gold is definately a rebadged wix(You can see the open version of the filter on their website and it is identical to the napa gold! And it is a bigger filter than that of carquest(red and blue)

Anyways, have a good one!
