Prices 2-22-26 for my 97 Buick 3800. Prices will differ somewhat for other sizes of filters for other cars, but the below info will give you an idea how much prices differ between sources. All the premium extended OCI filters below are made by Premium Guard with 20-25 microns @ 99.9% standard, pink silicone anti-drain-back valve and gasket, coil spring, clean internal holes (not slots) and other excellent features.
The following filters are identical performers, except for NAPA Gold which (according to a Filter Dissection video) has 10% more filtration material and pleats, but is otherwise an identical performer. So that would mean NAPA Gold has an extra 10% capacity to hold debris, but is an identical performer in other areas. So I think the NG would only have a usuable 10% advantage if you don't change the oil and filter in a timely manner. If you change filter on time, then all the following filters should be equally good.
I use a filter size that's 40% longer than normal for a Buick 3800. So I've already got an extra 40% capacity right there. So my Buick doesn't need the additional 10% capacity that NG provides.
However, my neighbor's Hyundai Elantra 1.8L engine has a tiny shot glass size oil filter and there are no comatible longer sizes of oil filter for it. So with such a tiny oil filter, I'd want a NG to get as much capacity as possible for the Elantra.
