New source for premium guard filters CHEAP

Since I have been buying filters on Amazon lately, I saw those. Has a little instruction book. When there are vine voice customer reviews they are giving away free filters in exchange for a review. Trying to get a business going on Amazon. Personally don’t trust it and wouldn’t buy. I would much rather buy a Fram even with a leak spring, or other USA known manufacturer. Any of them.

I found these A-Premium filters on Amazon and they look, at least in the 7317 size filter, to be made by premium guard. Same baseplate as the Microguard and Carquest filters, although with a rubber gasket instead of silicone. The pics also show the same spiral center tube with lots of large holes. Silicon ADBV and claims 99% efficiency with no micron rating. Great price at about $4.50/ filter.

Anyone using them?

I have a few A-premium parts on my cars and I've been pretty happy with them. I wouldn't expect them to last as long as OE or other spendy brands but they are fine for cars that probably have 5-ish years of life remaining. Besides, it's amazon - if the item seems crappy its easy to return.

For the most part I haven't been able to tell who makes parts but i have two fitted hoses that are stamped Sunsong. I suspect the topic filter is also made by a major brand.

Regardless of whether they're made by Premium Guard or not, I don't like to buy filters sight unseen. I'd rather buy locally so I can inspect before buying. For that reason I'll buy Microgard Premium from Oreilly where they have them in stock 10 blocks from my home.

Based on your posts from what I have been reading today in my searching, I ordered one of these Pentius filters and also a Service Pro E4620 (7317 size also). Not even going to use the Fram Endurance I had for my next oil change, sent it back to Walmart for a refund. Thanks for your C&P posts.

You’re welcome. These are great filters!

I have really only recently begun doing a deep dive into the filters. For years I just used OEM Honda filters, Wix, and aftermarket Denso filters - just because those are the brands I have always trusted and used. Turns out you don't know what you don't know. None of the filters I have used all of these years in the same CR-V are anything special, and the aftermarket brands I never considered to be good are actually good! When you buy their premium or extended performance lines, of course.

Pretty sure fram makes Honda OEM filters. If you have Amazon prime, the extra guard is like $3.88 delivered to your door

I believe the OE Honda filters are Fram at the moment as well. Absolutely nothing special about them at all. Same for most OE filters, as you know they just get produced by the lowest bidder. They were made by Honeywell for quite a time and I think they were probably the best they ever were when they were made by Toyo Roki. If someone can point me to where or why OE Honda filters are/have been the best filters to use, I am all ears. That's just me stating that, I know you aren't advocating for them. The only OE filter I have seen cut open as a virgin filter recently that was impressive was the OE Mazda black canister filter.

I love a good cheap oil filter as much as anybody but I have become a little more circumspect lately and am willing to pay a couple bucks more for a filter with an established reputation. Whether it be from dissection on youtube or general consensus of this august body! ;)the
