LG and Samsung should stick to televisions and cell phones.
... Or at least got one with a better warranty.
Moral of the story: Check the warranty on your high ticket appliances before you buy them.
Examples of refrigerators with a different warranty? (Hint: They all have the same 1 year warranty / 5 years on the sealed systems...
LG is a Korean company ...... yes but LG is made in about five different countrysI also avoid Korean appliances, other than televisions. But I have an LG dehumidifier that is still working after 22 years.
For refrigerators, washers, dryer, I prefer appliances made by Whirlpool. We have a Bosch dishwasher that is so quiet, I can only tell it is running by seeing its display illuminated.
Someone had put propane in the refrigerant?Premature failure (little over 2 years) of a Samsung french door here. Bought the long warranty, but when the compressor failed, NOBODY they were contracted with would work on it because the refrigerant was propane-based. So, $3200 down the drain. I did my best to do $3200 worth of damage to Samsung's reputation online.
I misspoke... It's isobutane and they refused to work on it because it's explosive.Someone had put propane in the refrigerant?
Yes R600a. Interesting.I misspoke... It's isobutane and they refused to work on it because it's explosive.
Propane is actually easy to work with-put a line tap on the low side, cut the high side with a tubing cutter, use nitrogen to push out any residual propane, making sure the space is well ventilated to prevent it collecting in a low area (heavier than air). A combustible gas detector is a good idea, but not really absolutely necessary. No recovery needed either! Clowns better get used to working with it, EVERYTHING uses it now in small appliances. Even my new cheap Haier window A/C uses it!Premature failure (little over 2 years) of a Samsung french door here. Many newer small refrigeration (& A/C) systems are switching to R290 or similar HC based refrigerant. Guessing it’s a GWP (global warming potential) thing-same reason HFCs like R404A are going away.Someone had put propane in the refrigerant?
