I’ve heard it’s for reason Wolf359 mentioned and some only cool either the fridge or the freezer part and let the air bleed to the other side. Depending on where the thermostat is located and what type can impact the cooling in cold temps. My garage fridge had some soggy popsicles in it during the winter and that’s what made me look into it further. Fortunately we don’t keep anything in the freezer part of it so it still has garage duty.
