In a European spec of 3.5hths or more, better off using BG EPR, LM Engine Flush, or High Performance Engine Cleaner with a stout A3 B4, Redline HP Euro. If I had to run VRP, it would be 5w30 with a bottle of Schaeffer's Moly EP 132 to try and get in the 40 range. No goosing it, just simple old lady driving, no track and no speeding. Maybe adding a qt of 30wt HD to help get the hths up. So in a 5 qt sump after a pre oil flush, 4 qts vrp 5w30, 1 pint moly ep 132, other pint sae 30HD from Valvoline or Napa.

Again my point earlier was that the winter rating is only guaranteed at specific temperatures. It’s not a global representation of how the oil behaves overall.

I'd just run the 5qts of VRP and then the ointment of EP Moly, it will take it to the top of a 40grade, maybe 50grade. The 30hd would not be necessary as EP Moly has a 100°c cst of >200, if i remember correctly. It is almost twice as thick as Lucas.

Poster above pointed out a (well known) fact, and suggested where to look for examples, if wished for. Isn't that helpful? It was for me. Took me a few seconds to find examples.
The correct reply should have been: "Thank you for your help"

You're upset because someone didnt "do the research", but when someone else does it, then you accept it wasn't an answer you (or the other user) were looking for?

As I noted twice, the point was that the winter rating only guarantees something at a specific temperature. That's it. It cannot be extrapolated into some generalization of behavior.

Probably an insufficient answer for you given your rant above.
