Who is wearing US-made jeans?

Hi,

I have a set of Lucky jeans, which were US made. As I understand it, now they are made elsewhere.

My wife wears sevens, but they are $ and maybe a bit too trendy for me.

I know a lot of the manufacturers, have taken a look at a lot of the websites.

Curious which ones people have and which are recommended. Don't want carpenter or "dads" jeans. Want something dark and fairly stylish, seems that longhorn may be the best bet, but not sure, and they are more $ than others.

Im fairly athletic, though currently a bit overweight. 48L up top, 38x34 pants, hope to get back to 36 or 34 over the next 6 months or so.

Can't help you on who makes blue jeans in the US. I pretty much order from LL Bean now as they spec good quality stuff. I still have a pair of winter gloves I purchased from them in 1988.

But I did want to comment on the getting back to a smaller size. This past June, my 38 pants were getting tight. Today, I can comfortably fit in an 36" waist jean or khaki style pant.

They also had "odd sizes" so I have a few pairs of 37" waist jeans as I moved down to a 36"

I had been wearing XLT or XXL shirts and I can wear an LT in some cases. So it can be done, even if you are 40-something like me.
 
I bought several Levis jeans in size 30x31 more than 10-15 years ago, all were made in USA. I didn't gain any pound since I bought all those jeans, they fit me perfectly as of today.

The rest seem to be made for skinny-[censored] people who never stepped foot in a gym in their entire life.
 
My Levi original 505 slim fit from the mid 90s WERE made in the USA, but every pair since that I believe those bought after 2000 were made in Mexico and some other third world central american country. I don't believe that ANY of the regular Levi jeans today are made in the USA, although it is possible that some limited run styles might still be but I doubt it.

I believe that Lee jeans may still be made here.

I see that Levi has a "made in the USA" line, which is good because it is what I have historically worn, but they only seem to include skinny jeans at the moment.

Just looking for experience with various brands that others may have.
 
Side note-
Take what those USA made sites say with a grain of salt. I'm a big USA made proponent, and search out USA made products. But, most of the USA made sites are outdated. So, confirm anything they tell you through the company or on another site.


I recently tried to buy Texas Jeans, because they're reasonably priced and offer a lot of different styles.

But, buying jeans by mail order turned out to be more difficult than I thought. Texas Jeans are on the small side. That's because most brands are now upsized, so they're actually larger than the listed sizes.

The first pair of Texas Jeans I bought was too big, the second pair was too small. I then gave up, because I had already wasted enough money.

I also don't like the back pocket design on Texas jeans. It's a little to big and flashy, IMO.


Actually, several of my USA made clothing purchases have backfired on me. It's because you can usually only buy them online from specialty companies. I have a pair of USA made shoes that don't fit well and are uncomfortable.

But, some of my purchases have worked out really well. My "assembled in the USA" New Balance shoes have been great.

Also, I have some USA made sandals that are a great bargain. Okabashi is the brand. USA made and really affordable. I think the pair I have were $17. Plus, when they wear out you can send them back to the company and they'll recycle them into new sandals.

That is the problem you shouldn't have to be restricted to buying USA made products on line. It almost seems like a deliberate strategy to further destroy US manufacturing. I don't think it is ANY accident.

The Levi's I have now, are made in Bangladesh, Colombia, and Mexico. I've had others that were from other South American countries, and I've noticed the quality has gone down from what they used to be. They develop holes where multiple seams meet. Typically at the crotch and around the waist area.

My made in Mexico Carhartt's don't do that.
 
The last pair of wranglers I bought were made in the USA, that was about a year ago. I don't know if they still are. I won't buy levi's not only because of where they're made, but due to the causes they choose to support. That's a story for another thread I suppose. What really irks me is that these jean companies kill jobs by moving production off-shore, and don't pass on any of the savings to customers. Salt in the wound if ya ask me. If memory serves, Cabela's carries a line of jeans made in the US, and they get good reviews for fit and durability.

I wear Texas Jeans most of the time. I like the fact that they're not upsized for the obese crowd, but rather for normal sized customers. I like that I can buy them online, not pay sales tax, get free shipping and they arrive at my door 3 or 4 days later. I also don't have to fight any crowds, worry about them being out of stock when I get there, or be concerned that someone else has tried them on before I do.

I also have a few pair of Carhartt jeans that were made in the USA (almost 20 years old now) and while faded, they are still in great shape.

Thing is - maybe they are made in the USA, but just about every other piece of clothing and most of the other non-fishing/firearm stuff in Cabela's is made in another country, so it's best to avoid Cabela's if possible (Hey I'm not preaching here, I had a $250 gift card)

I don't think they are, unless your local store has old stock.

I was looking at them recently. They were all "made in Mexico with US fabric."
 
I wore Levis until they began making them outside of the US and started to fit differently. Now I wear Lees just because they fit better and are cheap-ish, but they are also made outside the US now.
 
I don't wear jeans at all. Haven't owned a pair in probably 15 years. Don't own any khakis or slacks either.

The only long pants I own are camo fleece pants I wear hunting.

Other than that, I wear cargo shorts about 350 days per year.
