I plan on changing the oil in my Accord this fall using Mobil 1 0W20 (older SL version). I had seen UOA's where this oil went 10K in a Honda 4 cyl. without a problem so I plan on going between 7K and 8K (which will be the longest OCI ever for me). I have the following filters and was wondering which would be best for this OCI (and the colder months).

1) WIX premium
2) Purolator PUREONE (older version painted sparkle blue)
3) Honda 15400 PCX 004 (this is the Made in Japan by Toyo Roki filter used in the S2000.)

Thanks..I'll probably do a 7500 mile OCI.

As a long time long OCIs guy(32 years) I know that Bosch, Pure One, M1, K&N, and several others, will do long OCIs with no problems.

Any filter, except OCOD, can be used for 10-15k miles without problem as long as your engine isn't sludged. I had Bosch, Motorcraft and even the free Pep Boys Proline filters on LS400 for 1 year up to 15k miles without any problem. I have Honda 15400 PCX-004 on S2000 for 1 year too.

Throw on a blindfold and pick one at random; because any of thoes would do great.

I run STP and AC/Delco e-cores for 7,500 and they do fine.

same here, on my silverado witht he olm.

However, for that long of a OCI I wouldnt mind having a silocone adbv, so in the end:any filter with a silicone adbv will work for you. Do not worry about the brand, Fram XG, Wix, etc...

Fram Xtraguard. 2 ply synthetic media, stainless steel screen backing, enhanced grip, extra thick cannister. Good for 10,000 miles or more. $8 at Wally World where you should be buying your oil because it is the lowest price of anyone around.

I like the Fram Xtended Guard but...... I picked up 5 Qt of Pennzoil for $11 and a Pure One for $5 at K-Mart... 5 Qt of Pennzoil at WM is usually $13.50. Usually you can find a better deal on 5 Qt of oil at K-mart because of the sale. This week was Valvoline, last week was Pennzoil. Who knows what next week will bring. Most of the time it's 5 QT for $11

Thanks for all the replies. I'm surprised there is such low regard for the Honda Toyo Roki filter which also has a red silicone gasket.
