When did you realize you were old?

One of the "joys" of getting old is how the need to pee when young gives plenty of warning, but the need to pee when old happens like the flick of a switch.

I’m not quite at that point yet (I’m 56). If I’m driving and feel the urge I can hold it for a half hour at least so I don’t need to worry as long as I’m not way out in the boonies (and at least then there would be lots of trees!) 🤪

Just wait, your half hour warning shortens to five, maybe ten minutes. There have been times I've had to pinch myself (if you know what I mean). Problem with that is when you unzip and remove, you have to release your pinch. The transition is not always dry.

I guess the two things that stick out in my mind are when I discovered my back isn't as young and flexible as it used to be. After working on changing the Pilot's timing belt for a day, I was sore for a week after that. Had to learn some back exercises for those times when it needs to be flexible again.

The second was realizing that if I still had my first car, a 1997 Saturn, it would be eligible for historic vehicle plates. :ROFLMAO: Along that same line, cars that I regularly saw growing up are now starting to show up at car shows.

When the programs I watch all have commercials for retirement finance, medicare, pharmacy drugs, joint pain, and just general medical stuff.

So many jokes and one liners for this but I will answer the OP's question. Really noticed about 3 years ago. Until then I was in denial so really about 5 years ago. It shows up in muscle spasms in my back and complete lack of energy. Funny thing is I still wake up from time to time and feel 25 years old again. The mirror says different, but I suspect its been like that since the fall from the garden. My stubborn will and refusal to quit is both a blessing and a curse.

Yep, I'm in "some days are better than other" mode - and for no reason that I can identify.. And from the sounds of it, I'm like you and will fight it til the end.

I'm having that done in March. I'm looking forward to it.

That's another thing about getting old, driving at night. And driving at night in the rain on roads with oncoming traffic is seriously sketch.

That’s where I’m at right now 😥 I used to love driving at night and now I try to avoid it as much as possible.

Ya know....the other time I recently realized I was old was when I no longer want tint on my front windows. Too impractical in the dark.

But then.....maybe you reach a point where you just don't drive at night so you don't care about front tint anymore. That's the transition from old to extra old ;)

I was getting to the point of night driving was tough. I dropped a bunch of weight, changed my diet a whole lot and miracle, night driving seems no biggie (while it lasts!!!)

Ill be 35 in May. Recently my 9 year old lil cousin got in my F250 to go to the store and was amazed at the crank windows and was asking me what they were. That made me feel “old” 😂😂
It’s funny that there are hardly any cars on the road anymore with crank windows but yet we still say the phrase “roll down your window” 😃
