I have 06 Toyota Rav 4 purchased new with 4 cyc engine. Now has 35000 miles and used only around town and uses about 1 qt of oil between changes. I use full synth. and change with a filter every 5 thous. miles. seems to use to much oil or maybe not. Please let me know. Th ank you jack

That COULD be normal, although I personally wouldn't be happy about my engine with 35k burning that much oil.

What oil are you using? Sometimes just switching to a diff oil can make an improvement.

A quart in 5K is not excessive.
Some engines use that much, some don't.
As long as your consumption remains about the same, I wouldn't worry about it.

Normal depends on many things. Find other 2.4L Toyota owners and see what they consume.

Sometimes, you have to switch oil brands or weights to find one that works better.

My 2.4L Toyota burns about ~4 ounces in 6k miles and has 60k miles.

Don't run syn oil for the 5,000 mile changes.
